Observation Scheduling

Thursday's warm weather has left the trail very icy. With current conditions we are unable to groom the trail at this time and we do not anticipate being able to groom in the next few days.

Morning
Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Skied for around 5 minutes and gave up. My skin skis had no kick on the glazed tracks. Perhaps I should have used Klister skis.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
3-4" light, fluffy snow fell overnight. All loops were tracked today. Still a few thin spots, but overall good conditions. Note: A few hundred yards of the outer red/blue loop starting at the first snowmobile trail crossing is currently plowed due to logging in the area. This activity should be ending soon.

Skied one of our North country favorites. Escanaba is well groomed and the tracks were fast. Beautiful piles of snow!

Today is the best skiing of the season for me! I used my good but not best skis, though I could have. I skied the green loop, a little bit of fresh snow in the tracks, which for me, makes for perfect classic skiing. Very fast glide today with perfect traction on the uphills.

I skied the green loop today. The snow quality is about perfect. It's packed well with very few things spots, with no contact with any rocks. The tracks are all set perfectly and lifted and set down in the right places. The glide is great even with my waxless skis. Tomorrow I will come back with better waxable skis.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Around 6" of wet, heavy snow fell in the past day. The trail was packed with a snowmobile only while clearing downed trees and overhanging brush and limbs. Due to the wet, packy nature of the snow we were unable to do anymore with the trail at this time. We will reevaluate conditions on Friday.

I skied the yellow loop at 2:00pm. The trails have been packed with a snowmobile with several inches of new snow on top. It was great skiing as far as I'm concerned. Just enough snow to prevent any contact with rocks. So I would say it's great backcountry ski conditions!
