Joanie and I skied all the trails (and some twice) here this morning before the snow came. Great conditions at this nicely double-tracked classic-only system. The grooming held up well from Friday due to limited use. The NHAL State Forest really takes care of their ski trails with frequent grooming and should be a model for other DNR properties!

We received about 6" of snow on the Madeline trail last night! I was able to roll the trail to pack in the new fluffy snow. Then groomed, the tracked laid perfectly and looks great! Bring your good skis but be careful for low hanging branches from the ice storm earlier in the week.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails were groomed by 11:30am this morning. All loops were cut twice to try to work some of the new snow in and cut up the old tracks. Then the were tracked, tracks look in good condition. There is still a few specs of debris on the first and last miles of the red loop. Have a great day!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails were groomed by noon today. Trails were cut twice then tracked. Loops have a lot of debris, especially the outer loops. Tracks are not perfect with no new snow, they are a bit powdery but if the temp drops they should set nicely. Surprisingly the Red Loop, is the best loop right now, with the back of the Red being nicely tracked. Be careful because the hills are slick! Don't bring your best skis. Good luck and hope for snow!

All loops have tracked. There are a few slush spots still but should freeze up with the coming colder temperatures. If temperatures drop today it should be pretty good conditions. The trail is still in early season conditions and we need a bit more snow to cover a little debris on the Red Loop. Otherwise enjoy the first tracked groom of the year for Madeline.

I saw that the trails had been dragged but not tracked so I thought it might be good for skating. I went as far as the first trail intersection and decided to turn around and give up. The trail was very rough it is was obvious it was not going to be a pleasant ski.
