I skied the Red loop from the parking lot and back and then skied the Blue loop from the parking lot and back. The trails had been freshly groomed. The tracks were deep and firm and track speed was good considering the cold temps. I was very pleased to find the steep downhills were smooth and untracked which made control very good. Overall conditions I would rate as very good to excellent. Madeline Lake is a great trail system.

This was the first time in awhile we’d gotten out to Madeline and it skied like a whole new trail. A bit of logging, widening, and improved grooming has made this a gem in the Northern Highlands/DNR trails group. Rolly, with nothing extreme, the outer Red Trail of 5+miles provided dual track compatibility on a coldish ski. Crisp tracks and a bit later we left impressed and ready to include the trail in our daily selection. Well done DNR tax dollars!

The ski trails were all groomed and they looked like they had gotten a fair amount of use. I skied the red and blue loop. Overall conditions I would rate as good to very good. Steep downhills are tracked, which makes control difficult - prefer they not be tracked. The trails are really open now with all the recent logging activity.

All loops are rolled. The Gator is broke down on the green loop, use caution on that trail.
