Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 3 to 12 of 24    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skated two loops - the trails are nicely groomed, snow is perfect. Be careful on bridges as the snow is a little slow. Try to get out before the temperatures dip and things get icy.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the loop. Was not groomed at 11 but has been rolled as of this afternoon. There was about 1.5" of fresh snow on top which made for pleasant skating over a firm even deck. It should be good now for the weekend.

Best conditions of the season today. A nice wide skate deck over the full golf course (south) side made for a great workout today. Still a bit soft still but should firm up nicely over the next few days. Thank you groomers!

All trails groomed. Used self-made classical trail on golf course. Great weather and a healthy workout.

Nothing groomed as of 10:00 AM. Skied classic trail on north side set by other skiers. A good workout in perfect weather.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Golf course trail is skiable but wind blown and in some areas it's difficult to see what's been groomed. Follow Detour around logging areas. If you have the time to travel, Zilmer was wonderful yesterday.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Rock skis ]
I skied the classic tracks on the north side of the park, which turned out to be more challenging than expected, and I quit after one loop. They tracks are icy, as expected, but also, planting poles was always unpredictable and the L/R tracks varied in height relative to each other, so balance was harder. Where the tracks are close to the road in several places, the plowed snow is piled over the tracks, but skiers have made a shallow, if uneven, track. The trail through the woods north from the parking lot had a lot of tree debris. I would suggest driving elsewhere if possible, until it can be groomed again.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Soft snow on the north side of the golf course with a short area without snow to cross where arborists have been accessing the park. In the middle and south and west parts of the golf course, the trail is firm and wide. No classic tracks on golf course, but I saw classic skiers in the wooded area. More grooming underway as I left at 7:15am. Great job by the Milwaukee county parks crew! Please try to stay off the trail later in the day if above freezing conditions.

Groomer went around and rolled. With the snowball snow the staff did a great job going around. There is classic on both sides of the road. Some tricky areas with skimobile tracks and poles go thru but hey, good skating and skiing!

Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
Golf course is not skiable after the rain and sleet. Many open areas. Soft snow in woods with fair coverage- classic skiing looks possible.
