Firsthand: Classic

Trail is really fast and icy despite the best efforts of our groomers. Lots of snowplowing on downhills and corners needed. The trail is beautiful and I did enjoy myself and especially the new warming house but if you're not comfortable with these conditions it's best to wait for fresh snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Reset classic track and did leveling on skate for whole system. Classic track varies between full and partial depth due to the cold temps. We are making headway on the soft spots and skate lanes with each grooming. Should be good for those who brave the cold temps through the weekend.

Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Some parts are great, some parts are soft, but all of it is gorgeous. There's some drifting in certain areas. Last groomed on December 31st per the chalkboard outside warming house. Light bit of snow over most of the groomed trail.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied the Thunder Peak loop, the trail was groomed but was very soft, especially the skate deck. There were also some very deep snow drifts near the peak. Other loops appeared to be groomed and may have received additional passes by the groomer as the skate deck and tracks were a bit firmer. The groomer appeared to get stuck in a few places and dug some ruts, but it didn't appear there was any debris that would damage skis. Lots of maple leaves have fallen with the high winds the last few days which may make striding difficult for waxable skis if the temps warm up.

Spoke with one of our groomers out at Sugar and the trails are looking good with more grooming planned over the next couple of days. The new equipment building with a comfortable warming room for public use is open.

Two days of work but Skate and classic open on Thunders, Rajala, Snag and Long Lake trails. Soft conditions, but no complaints after 12+ inches of new snow. Groomers will be working on the remaining trail segments in the next couple of days.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
We skied 2/3rds of the trail system today. There is 3-4 inches of ungroomed snow on the trail. For those who wish to classic on waxless skis it was pretty darn nice for before Thanksgiving. We are talking about packing the trails on Monday and then setting a shallow track on Tuesday. I will update this information in a week.
