Decided to check out Sugar even though report states skate lane is soft. Unfortunately there was a ridge down middle of the lane on most of the various trails. Snag loop had the biggest ridge. Better on Thunders loop. The problem was that left and right sides of ridge had different textures, so a skating pattern was difficult to maintain. I would hit really soft areas and nearly fall.

We were able to get out and finish grooming all but the old race trail loop. We tracked and leveled the skate lane on all but Long Lake Loop which had been done the day before. It still may be soft in spots but it is improving with each grooming.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We attempted to groom today and were only able to complete the Long Lake loop. Temps were just too warm and we not able to do any other trails. The rest of the trails are a bit uneven with 2" of new snow over the last grooming effort on Tuesday. Next grooming is scheduled for Monday or when temps drop a bit.

Great system full of rolling, flowing trails. Skate lane had a couple soft spots and a few scattered patches of leaf debris. Classic tracks were glazed and firm throughout. This was my first ski here, and I got the feeling that the local ski group has put in some hard work getting the trails in good shape, along with construction of a fairly new warming shack/grooming shelter. If you are in the area, don't miss this place.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We groomed all trails today. Our snowmobile blew a fuse on the trail and we were unable to lift the classic track setter so lots of extra classic tracks out there. Plenty of room to skate so no worries. I wouldn't use your best skis as there are still a few spots here and there. For mid December the trails are in great shape. Enjoy.

Skated 10K with grandkids on various trails. Skate lane was packed nicely but 3 inches of very light cold snow on top since last grooming made tough skiing for the kids. Classic tracks looked nicely skied in packing the fresh snow in the set tracks. A very fun place to ski!
