Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skied Long Lake today. Classic track is pretty good, skate lane is soft. There has been a lot of debris blown into the classic track so using waxless skis will be a better choice. Work continues to happen on The Thunders trail, removing trees bent over from the heavy snow. Grooming plans: We should get Thunders done and ready for grooming late this week or early next. If skiers would help remove debris from the groomed trails it would be helpful.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We set track, which is fair, and combed skate lane, which is soft and narrow, on Long Lake and Snag. East Loop was rolled and combed. Thunder, Rajala, Sunset and Atomic need brushing for the grooming equipment to get through. Please help brush and pick debris off trails.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Was expecting fully groomed but Sugar Hills is not. The trails were rolled at some point but now have 4 inches of snow on top. User set tracks on Snag Loop and I set tracks on the Thunders. Lots of trees overhanging the trail. Skiable for sure but not perfect. I'd go back.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Cleared debris on Snag. Three inches of powder over grooming. I was first track. Lots of debris so lots of work. Entered from Long Lake which had a skied in classic track and looked pretty clean of debris.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have been able to clear about 90% of the system of downfalls. We still have a ton of work to do with overhanging trees over the trail. Grooming plans: We will try to get Long Lake and Snag loops groomed for classic early this week and will post when that is done. Skiers are encouraged to bring snippers or hand saws along to help clear branches. We will update as conditions improve.

Evening
Observation
[ Trails: Closed, Good skis ]
We have received 16" of heavy wet snow. Every small to medium sized tree on the system is leaning over onto the trail. We are having to basically walk the system and shake the snow off the trees to free them so we can get the grooming machines through. We are also dealing with downfalls that have to be removed. Grooming plans: We will start grooming as soon as the trees have been taken care of. We will update here when we have a groomed trail available. These conditions are probably typical of many of the trails in the northwoods so if you can help contact your local groomers.
