Observation [ Trails: Closed, ]

The sun has taken a toll on the trail. The Meadow Loops are closed at this point. It was nice to see some skiers take advantage of this early snowfall with such enthusiasm.

Grooming [ Trails Open: Partial, ]
|
Copper Falls received five inches of snow over the weekend. Trails were rolled Sunday but the only skiable section right now are the Meadow Loops by the Park Office. The Meadow was packed this morning with the ginzu. Grass is sticking through in places and there are bare spots around some pine trees. So if you're in the Mellen area and eager to get some early-season glide in, today would be a good opportunity to try the Meadow Loops with your rock skis. Since high temperatures are expected to be around 40F for a couple days this week we're unsure if the Meadow loop will be skiable later on.

Observation [ Trails: Closed ]

Copper Falls received three inches of wet snow last night. However the ground is still soft and high temperatures are expected to be around 40F this week. The paved trail section of the main skate/classic loop, which goes through the North Campground, is still bare. Grooming operations will not start until the next staff-issued trail report update is posted. At this moment trails are still open for hiking.
Through the efforts of the Friends of Copper Falls SP, park staff, and other partners, we've made many improvements to the combination skate/classic loops this year so we look forward to a fun winter and hope you consider joining us!
