With more new snow - maybe 3 to 4” - we used both Ginzus on all trails. Tracks and skate lane looked great, and should set up well over the cold days following.

More snow. More grooming. We used both Ginzus today, grooming the skate lane and setting tracks everywhere, including the Little Blue Hill trail and the Blue Return.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
With about an inch of snow on Monday we were able to do a nice job tuning up the skate lane on all trails this afternoon. We rolled followed by Ginzu on all the skate lanes including the Little Blue Hill trail which is now fine for skating either way. We also packed and rolled the Blue Return both ways, so that, too, is fine for skating.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
With about 2” of wet snow falling Friday, I covered all trails except the Blue Return with the Ginzu this morning. Tracks turned out better than expected given fairly shallow base, and the skate lane looks super. There are a few places where the groomer drags up some dirt, and there still are some rocks to watch out for, thus the B ski recommendation. There were a few skaters out today while I was grooming who reported the deck was firmer and faster than expected. It should be very nice tomorrow.

Logging on the Blue trail has been postponed until late winter. Sunday we opened the trail, packed with sleds and rolled. Once the snow sets up it should be ok for skating but it will be a while before we can set tracks. The Blue Return trail is rough.

There was enough new snow to preclude using the Ginzus until we had packed with sleds and rolled. Once that was done we were able to run both Ginzus around all trails, setting tracks on Green, Orange, Yellow, and Red trails. I’m still suggesting B skis because of thin coverage on the Red Trail. If you skip the Red you can use your best skis. The snow was soft after our first runs but by the time we left at 4 pm it was setting up nicely.

Set tracks on Green, Orange, and Yellow trails with Ginzu this morning. Looked quite nice in most places, a tad thin in some. I did turn up leaves in a couple of spots, but overall the tracks are good. The skate lane is fine on all trails, although you must step over some rocks on the Red trail. I skied it all this afternoon using good skis.

With about 4” of dense snow we packed and rolled all trails except the Blue. It was 14F below when we started, very dry snow that will take some time to set up I suspect. The flats and “cut overs” look really good. The rocky places on the Red are still only thinly covered and bear watching.

[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
First day of winter, first day of grooming. Just enough snow to make it worthwhile. We used the little drag ahead of the roller on all trails except the Blue. It was quite soft when we left, but should improve as time goes by. Yippee.
