Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Ginzu groomed all the double track trails this afternoon as the fog was lifting, temperature dropping from a high of 31 today and skies clearing. There was no rain or drizzle today at Maplelag. The Pisten Bully had another day off. After grooming, hopped on the skis and Jonell and I skied Sap Run and Sukkerbusk. I always say the last week of February is some of the best skiing of the season and today did not disappoint. The entire 25km fat bike trail was also groomed today, leveling the deck where rutted from weekend riders and should set up really nice tonight with the clear skies and falling temperature. Grooming plans: Tomorrow we will be working on the singletrack classic trails and the skate trails.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Machine and BirdMan ended up grooming the entire trail system both yesterday and today working the 5-6" of new snow from Monday. No new snow overnight or today. Mostly sunny. Trails are grooming up real nice and conditions are some of the best of the year. Grooming plans: We are working on the fat bike trails this afternoon and plant to regroom the entire ski trail system again on Thursday.

An iconic Presidents weekend of grooming and skiing. Warm and springlike on Saturday, fast and crispy on Sunday and 5-6" of fresh powder on Monday. Fat bike and ski trail groomed all hours of the day over the weekend (timing is everything), and skied in the afternoons. All fantastic with the right wax and skis. Highlight was carving turns on the untouched slopes of fresh powder with the granddaughter. Grooming plans: We will be working on 40km of trail Tuesday, 15km skate and 25km classic.

Over the past two days we moved from spring (and warm) skiing to winter! High about 10 degrees today with beautiful sunshine. Trail grooming was exceptional! We skied rootin tootin and north loop today. Wax worked like it should on the colder snow. Great job Maplelag!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
An inch or so of new snow. No rain at Maplelag. We are grooming all the inner trails this morning and the skate lanes to the north and also a new track on North Loup. We are pulling up the old sugar snow and mixing with the new. Should be some nice skiing rest of the week into the weekend. Grooming plans: We will groom the western trails on Thursday and touch up previously groomed trails as needed.

Skied various trails today, all in great shape. Biggest challenge was waxing in warm weather. Jibfly was in awesome shape this afternoon.

Excellent weekend of spring like skiing. Jonell and I skied both mornings and evenings and enjoyed our favorite conditions of the year. Temps only reached the mid to upper 30's at Maplelag this weekend allowing the integrity of the grooming and snow to remain intact. Just the south facing areas getting compromised. Should be another great day tomorrow, best skiing looks to be from 10am-1pm. Grooming plans: We are keeping an eye on potential weather midweek and will groom again when deemed necessary.

We have been working on 83km of ski and fat bike trail the past few days, renovating, tenderizing, refurbishing and getting conditions the best they can be after this weeks melt freeze cycle. Took a bit more work to get the Section courses cleaned up (wouldn't trade those two days for anything) and after multiple passes things are looking pretty darn good. The outer singletrack classic trails are grooming up very nice since they were not disturbed on the warm days. There is literally "sweet transformed sugar" snow being pulled up to dress with and recommend skiing these trails which are on the western and northern part of the trail system. Personally these are some of the best conditions of the season when timed properly, and with that said, predicting the best skiing Saturday to be 9am-12noon. Grooming plans: Touch up grooming on select trails as needed.

Site of the HS Sectionals today; well attended with lots of excitement. Skied North Loup and Roy's Run after the morning races. N. Loup tracks were in typically fine Maplelag condition. Roy's Run was pristine! A bluebird day for skiing at Maplelag!

A beautiful weekend of skiing, the warmer temps were heartening. Even Mary (80) got out today! Tracks are holding out well with good kick action. Did a skate lap at the beautiful moon rise and was fast, firm and fun! We are hosting Section 8 Nordic Ski Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be preparing the courses in the afternoon and evenings on Monday and Tuesday. Trails will be open during Section days but parking may be limited. We will have a food truck on site Tuesday and Wednesday for the races.
