Trail Detail
Notes
A couple of good loops, although it seems to get more wind-blown than other metro trails. New in 2013, 5K snowmaking loop.Trail Reports

Ran some of the 5k loop (Frogtown and north) in 50° temps. Snowmaking machines are set up south of Frogtown. While limited, park staff have made some snow. Fingers crossed for freezing temperatures.

Went pole walking on Nordic trails, and noticed that the sign advertising the Nordic Ski Opener for Dec 6th was taken down (an omen?). Very little snow made on Nordic trails, but not the case on alpine trails: they were open, with lots of skiers.

Three Rivers is aiming for a Dec.5th opening at Hyland. (Secure your valuables. I parked by Jan's Place to rollerski and my car window was smashed and my wallet was stolen; within an hour over $1000 was spent on credit cards).

Skied the 5K loop at Hyland. I was the breaking new tracks for about half the loop. Going down Boulder Ridge was a bit harrowing with the stop-and-go snow. Used some old purple Swix wax that worked pretty well. Overall it was not bad, but I won't go again until there is more snow.
