Trail Detail
Notes
A couple of good loops, although it seems to get more wind-blown than other metro trails. New in 2013, 5K snowmaking loop.Trail Reports

I have no doubt that all trails were in good shape in the morning, as reported, but by the afternoon the lake trail had bare spots and lots of leaves. If you have your good skis, avoid the lake trail. The rest of the trails were great!

I started at Hyland at 8am today and when I left at 9:30 the parking lots were really filling up. Great to see so many skiers, and with all the trails open it never felt congested. The manmade loop was fast and pristine, as always. The Lake Trail was OK and definitely skiable with good skis but showing some wear. Things improved dramatically when I took the Hill Trail - gorgeous snow, complete coverage, soft top layer for easy edging. The North Trail was the same. Best conditions of the year on the natural snow trails. I didn't ski classic but the track was immaculate on the manmade snow sections and good to ok elsewhere.

Classic ski late morning, Lake and Hill loops (natural snow). Tracks are groomed but shallow, washed out around the bends. Good classic ski for those comfortable with those conditions, but not great for beginners (who should stick with the deep tracks on Star/Willow/Frogtown). Skate deck looked fine, but there were visibly icy areas on the Lake loop, before the Hill Loop split. A quiet, peaceful ski!

Lovely sunny bluebird afternoon for a ski at Hyland with lots of freshly groomed snow! Classic tracks were in good shape throughout the man-made loop, and the skate deck was faster than I expected, given all the new snow. Quite possibly the best mix of amazing weather and snow we've had all season. I saw plenty of skiers on the north natural snow trail that connects at the bottom of Boulder Ridge. Should be a great week to check out the rest of the trails at Hyland.
