Notes

A great hilly trail system completely in the woods. Because of the woods, the trails hold their snow better than most.

All trails were in great shape. I was classic skiing, mostly in the tracks, which were excellent. But the skate deck seemed great, too.

Perfect conditions at Terrace Oaks, probably the best I've ever seen there. Freshly groomed crisp tracks and smooth skate lane with very little leaf litter, trees still decorated with snow from last week. Virtually empty of skiers but we did see a Barred Owl. Trail section nearest the West parking lot had been closed for deer management by the time we finished, which effectively put the whole trail off limits, so check before you go.

Skied Terrace oaks this morning, mixed bag for both skate and classic, no classic track yet and skate deck uneven and rough. With that said still enjoyed a couple of laps, and enjoyed being at this trail. Warming house was just opening up when I left at 10:30ish.

Just me and the groomer out on an insanely beautiful morning. No classic tracks set; the groomer said they will be trying for that on Saturday. Skied the outer loop. Overall great conditions, with the deck soft in places and skinny due to so much snow.

Skate deck was packed, but there were no tracks set for classic. Still pretty good classic skiing and it was beautiful with so much snow still stuck on the trees. The hilly terrain is challenging and fun. We really enjoyed a chance meeting and chatting with Odd Osland, the inspirational 81-year-old ski racer, who was featured in a story in the Minneapolis Star Tribune yesterday. Also enjoyed talking with Peter Dorsen.

Went over to check out Terrace Oaks. Trails are very cool and wind through the woods, but have not been groomed. No skate deck or classic track set, but if you have backcountry/touring skis they would be fantastic! Looked like one or two other people had skate/classic skied around a bit.

Perfect conditions. Temp around 25 F at 7 am. Nice fresh groomed base. Good condition for skate skiing. Classic tracks weren't put down at this time.
