Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied at 11am. All trails look good for skate. Classic set on lake but not grimm. Snow not set up yet but if you ski slow and steady you won't dig in. No rocks and not wind swept. Trailer opened tonight till 5pm.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied all the loops today and found them incredibly good. Thanks to report yesterday I skied at Carver today at 11:30. I don't think trails were effected at all by temps today. Recommend B skis but if have only one pair would still go. Some irregularity to trails but not bad. Some grass coming through at hilltops.

Skied Lake, Snowflake and Sky trails and snow cover was good. A few sticks here and but the trails are nicely packed and fast. No tracks set - nice to be on real snow again.

Good to be back at Carver after no-snow years. I forgot how much I like the trails and the variety. Grimm was good--could have used B skis. Some leaf litter in spots, but good skate deck. Had to double pole thru some windblown areas, but not much. King was another story. Lots of windblown, and lots of hikers that almost destroyed most of the trail. Hard to get to the trail from the Lake trail since the snow was windblown. But still worth it because of the nice uphills. Only three cars in the parking lot. For natural snow this time of year, it was great. Better than Hyland. Trailer was open.

Grimm was great. Pretty fast, pretty firm, and a fun ski. Some leaves in the woods, and areas of grass poking through were mostly cosmetic problems. Small grass patch at top of first climb. Worst is last couple hundred yards of exposed prairie that required a little double poling. Well rewarded though, as I don't think I got any new ski scratches on the large stretches of really nice groomed trail. Lake about the same except larger windblown area at King trail spur was a minor hassle to get through.
