Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Firm skate deck, moderately well formed tracks. Fischer crown classic with fast wax tan. 36 deg at 11:00.
Still a little icy till 12, perfect conditions up till 1:00 (39 deg), progressively slower up to 2:30 (41 deg.). Brisk Westwind, some clouds blocking the sun, keeping the snow from getting too warm. Firm, even skate deck worked well for classic striding, when the tracks had too much debris or were melt through. Skied Lake loop, Nature Center, sky, Sugarbush, Grimm Loop. Light traffic in the lot, with fat bikers and archery range attendees. Carver was beautiful today, with ample sunshine and a fresh breeze.

20% icy. Mostly hard packed but doable. Stuck with the inner shaded loops. Some crust skiing available. I will wait till the top softens before I come out again.

Fantastic job by the Carver grooming crew for making the best of our recent rain and snow. Recently groomed, deep solid tracks, zippy fast with a slight glazing of ice. Firm skate deck. My Fischer Crown Vasa classics with Fastwax tan worked well double polling in the tracks, with plenty of grip for climbing on the skate deck sans herringbone. Skied Grimm, Sky, Nature Center, Lake (twice) and King with one time taking skis off to traverse bare ground. Carver Park is always a relaxing respite from the world, with the wildlife and abundant peace and quiet. Light to moderate traffic in the parking lot including winter fat bikers. Feeling fortunate to be skiing on natural snow after such warm conditions this late in the season. Thank you, grooming crew and Three Rivers parks for this gem of a Park.

Skated at 5pm Tuesday and found the snow to be pretty wet and slow. The slush/ice spots from last week are expanding, and while they are still skiable, they threaten to end the season at carver. The first downhill on King as well as the bypass were pretty sketchy with ice/slush at the bottom, and the isthmus area was melted through so I was forced to walk, however the S turn downhill was in decent shape. Additionally, King was only groomed one pass wide which didn't work great for skating. Grimm was in the best shape with minimal slush. Lake, Sky and Sugarbush are all in fair shape but are suffering from melting hillside runoff. Did not ski Nature Center trail but it didn't look pretty on the drive in.

Excellent conditions in the afternoon at CP. Skied King and Grimm at 2pm. Freshly groomed early afternoon. Classic tracks on Grimm were in near perfect condition. Beautiful sunny spring day. Hats off and a big thanks to the grooming crew! One of the best seasons I can recall at Carver Park.

I skied all of the trails. Warm temperatures did a number today, but I timed the refreeze correctly to get a fast, pliable deck, without leaving ruts. Expect to find long sections of beautiful snow interspersed with large patches of slush, water, or ice. Not for the faint of heart but with some caution and beater skis you'll have a great time. I took the king bypass instead of the straight drop, which was the right call given the amount of slush at the bottom.

Today was one in Yet many beautiful spring type days at serene and peaceful Carver Park. Classic skied Grimm, Lake, Sugarbush, firm skate deck, well formed tracks as a testament to an attention to grooming By Three Rivers grooming crew. High temp of 33 deg. with a south wind at 7 mph. The waxless Fischer Crown Vasa's were the ticket and worked well in the tracks on all but the steepest climbs. Grimm had some bare spots starting to show thru on the skate deck and tracks. Get out while there while the gettin's good!

Ok, but they have opened up the trail from the nature center to the road to walkers. There was enough coverage today but skating was bumpy and I saw smiling dog walkers in the tracks. It's one more sunny day away from being unskiable. The non-walker side of the road was very nice so the recommendation is to park at the trail center.

After some tough "ski-baked ice" conditions on some parts of trails on Thursday, the fresh snow Thursday night and the daily grooming have turned Carver into a winter wonderland for skiing. Friday was terrific and the second grooming today really set the corduroy and the classic tracks to perfection this morning. Thanks to the groomers for hanging in there and producing some of the best conditions of the year at Carver. This is the way to go out on the naturals! Get out there before it is over!
