Eagle Point was in fair to good condition. Trail has been rolled once. It had a couple of inches of fluff on top; it was skier tracked for classic and and an uneven surface of skating. It was 27 degrees and the sun was coming out as a I arrived at dusk.
I asked a skier leaving the parking lot about the conditions when I arrived. He noted construction/trail rehab on north end but that the south side was packed. Followed his advice and was able to skate the entire new route around the lake, which is accurately captured on the current map. The construction reroute has you leaving the traditional ski trail onto an extension to the multi-use trail at the top of the ridge on the north end. As I have found in the past, the multi-use trail portion skated fine. I used FastWax Red HF, which performed well in the generally drier snow.

Conditions were very good. The park has full snow coverage, and the crew has rolled every trail off the nordic center (but not tracked). Some parts had a bit of drifting, but overall things were good. I bet they'll be excellent after another grooming pass.

My daughter, Linnea, and I had a nice time classic skiing at Elmo on Brown and Green trails. No formal tracks but still fine - plenty of coverage throughout. Skate lane looked decent with a few fresh inches on top but with wet warm snow nothing is going to but rocket fast.

Skied the whole outer loop this morning. Some leaves, a few small grassy sections where I double poled or got extra close to the tall grasses, but overall, no base damage. I wouldn't take best skis out yet, but with more snow, it should be great.

[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Pretty nice early season conditions! Brown and green are both fully skiable, with a few bare patches that are easily avoided. Probably want to use rock skis, but coverage was generally very good. Yellow was skiable but lots of bare patches, especially near the top. Didn't ski the orange, but it didn't look usable for now...too much bare ground.

I skated the trails on the east side of Lake Elmo today and would classify it as good rock ski conditions. Coverage is thin and a bit soft, but it skied nicely. There are two notable bad spots. One is at the top of the big hill on the green trail just beyond the red barn. It is gravelly and thin coverage for a stretch of about 20 feet or so. The other spot is at the top of the yellow trail, right as you begin the descent, there is a patch of about 30 feet with little to snow snow on the trail. I thought the groomers did a great job with what they had to work with. Get out and enjoy it.
