Excellent conditions today. Great coverage, good grooming. A fair amount of debris on the trail after all the recent wind. Toko yellow grip wax was the ticket for the sunny warm weather.

Classic skiers stay away unless you have waxless skis and don't mind loads of leaves and sticks. I classic skied all loops this morning with waxable skis and spent most of the time in the skate lane. The wind yesterday knocked down lots of debris in the wooded areas and erased the tracks in most open areas. They don't plan to groom today and said they might not groom tomorrow, either. Need some fresh snow to really improve things.

Trails are in great shape. Nice quick classic track and the skating lane had little traffic and was a bit slower. Very nice skiing for both.

The park has at least 4-6 inches of fresh snow, but none of the trails have been groomed. There was some youth event going on and they created a reasonably good classic track, but skating was unpleasant in the deep snow. It was very disappointing that as of late afternoon the park hadn’t even begun to groom the trails.

Wetland, Woodland, Prairie Overlook and Wedge Hill Savanna were in good condition. Skate deck was hard packed with isolated ice under some trees as well as limited leaf and seed litter where you would expect it. I didn't have any problem getting bite as I skated. I didn't see any classic track. It was 26 degrees and overcast. I used FastWax Red LF. Not a bad skate. Not as fast as I always dream of but still decent given the hills. Only real concern was that my fear of losing control on the hard-packed hills kept me snowplowing on all but the straightest sections.

With the recent weather, I was expecting icy conditions and that is what I found. The groomers have been doing a lot of work trying to rough up the surface. Thanks to them you can just get an edge in for skate skiing. The classic tracks looked like shimmering ice. Conditions aren’t ideal, but if you lower expectations you can get a good ski in.

With the warm temps the tracks were getting glazed and even a bit soft in spots. Leaf litter was manageable but increasing. Such a gorgeous sunrise this morning over the swamp. Good speed in the tracks this morning, my thanks go out to the groomers.
