Trail conditions were very good. Generally about an inch of loose snow atop a packed base. There was the usual amount of leaf and needle litter and a little snert on the tree-lined, outgoing portion of Wetland. It was 30 to 32 degrees. I used FastWax Yellow LF. With a 12:45 start and about 20 cars in the parking lot, I only saw 2 other skiers in the hour i took me to do Wetland, Woodland Edge, Prairie Overlook and Wedge Hill Savanna.

A beautiful morning at William O'Brien. The skate deck was freshly groomed this morning on most of the outer loop. The expected debris in the woods. The only spot of any real concern is under the pines by the campground and under the bridge. Otherwise if you don't mind sticks, good skis are good. The skate deck has been widened more than I've seen in the past in a number of places. A little soft on that left edge so mind your pole plants occasionally. Not too shabby for the last day of 2022.

Didn't get ourselves out until a bit after noon. Bottom line, not worth the drive. Track didn't appear to have been re-set since I was there Monday. Probably 50% washed out. Remaining track is shallow, broken down. The leaf, bark, needle, cone litter is getting bad; however, very little soil showing. System needs a good grooming.

Started about 2:30. Skied all the trails. Wonderful to be back on the WOB trails! Main trails all had track varying from almost non-existent to moderate depth. Outer trails had some skied-in track, mostly none. Some of the downhills had some ruts that made for a rough ride, but overall a quiet, beautiful ski.

Fun ski this morning (classic) at Bill OB. Most trails were open and groomed and groomers were out while we were there. After the storm there is fair amount of sticks and leaves on the trail. Some of the outer trails were not yet groomed or had a skate deck but no classic tracks yet. In some areas the recently groomed deck was soft especially on the edges. Certainly one of the most beautiful trails in the Twin Cities.

It was a cold but a nice sunny day to ski on. The beginning of the trail has pine cones and twigs can be found all over the trail system. I did the outer loops and found the Rolling Hills to be in excellent shape, Prairie Overlook only rolled but no classic track, and the Wedge Hill Savanna was being overblown. This last loop had man made tracks, that actually works rather well for classic skiers, like myself. It was a nice quiet day with only a few people on the trail; I didn't see any out on the trail, only at the trailhead. The main (inner) loop was in excellent shape with classic tracks set and in good condition.

The main loop, not including the most difficult hill sections, has been groomed. Anything in the woods skied well despite lots of new debris. The winds were bringing down small branches, pine cones and the like. Did not impact skiing much. Anything open to the wind had what you would expect, filled in tracks on the flats. I could see the trail going up to the high point (called South America for years), it was covered by a big drift with a snow plume blowing off of it. Grooming has been excellent this year and the base in the best in years so expecting continued great skiing, once this wind settles down.

I did not go beyond the trail center but everything I could see from there has been newly groomed for classic and skate. Three cars in the lot and -8 degrees.
