Skied JD rivers, Bassett Creek, Tornado Alley, Skyline, and most of the snowmaking loop today. The natural snow was much firmer and condensed than it had been Friday or Saturday, which was nice. Still a little slow but much more enjoyable today. Coverage is great. Under 55 it's a little thin, I think my pole tips were hitting the asphalt (or ice). On the connector between Trail 18 and the bridge over Wirth Parkway, there is a bit of curb exposed on the right side as you are coming down the hill to the bridge - something to look out for.

Skied a good chunk of the north trails and they were great. A little soft and slow of course but tracks had just been set and the groomers must have been out for the duration of the snow. I think we might be skiing until June!

The made snow loop was in great shape where the race was not happening. A bit crusty on the trail coming out of Twin Lakes. Drevil's Drop was getting some buildup but plenty of traction for kids to make it down.
The bridge trail across the road was groomed so classes could happen (and in usable condition). But the walking bridge to get there is very icy. And the other side if the railroad bridge is not skiable due to ice and bare batches.

Conditions were better than I expected. A few pole plants slid away on ice and some of the uphills had a snow cone texture. Didn't find any ice on the downhills.

Grooming Scheduling [ Trails Open: All, ]
|
This weekend is Mayor's Challenge and Supertour races on the snowmaking loops. On Friday, the course will be open to the public, but will be routed in the World Cup course routing for course preview, which uses the downhill turn by the Trailhead and over the bridge. On Saturday and Sunday, snowmaking trails will be closed to the public until 4pm.

Grooming [ Trails Open: All, ]
|
Snowmaking ski trails north of the roundabout (Jim's Hill, Ridgeline, North Finger, La Squadra) will have four best line classic tracks on Thursday morning to dial in grooming for Supertour races this weekend. We will scrub those tracks and set normal ones around mid day Thursday. It would be a good morning to bring your classic skis! Green meadow and Twin Lakes will have normal grooming all day.
Natural snow trails are too icy to groom at this point, with some bare spots that need fixing. Lakes are in very bad shape and won't be skiable until we get more snow.
