Maybe one of the most beautiful days for skiing I've seen at Wirth. When the sky got blue over the hoar frost at the top of Ridgeline, it was mesmerizing. The made snow loop was great- a little soft on the La Squadra uphill, but so nice to have it open. Still no inner meadow, though it looks close. North Finger does not look like it's been built up at all yet. The natural snow cover across the road (Skyline, etc) is some of the most complete I've seen. The warming temps softened it up so there were zero icy patches.

The natural snow trails are all in great shape for skate and classic. The man-made snow loop was in even better shape, and has been extended to include the LaSquadra drop and climb, and the snow tubing hill was in full swing. Felt like mid-winter conditions all around - thanks Loppet team!!

Decent conditions today. Snow coverage was generally good, and the track was your typical so-so for natural trails at Wirth when we haven't had snow in a bit. At times it was shallow, at times it was great. At other times it was a bit washed out, but that was the exception, not the rule. I skied all natural trails north of Glenwood Ave.

Only had time to ski some laps on the snowmaking course this morning. The trail was in great shape, nicely groomed with a solid skate deck and the classic tracks looked nice. Temps were just rising above freezing and the snow was still fast. Full parking lots by 9 am at the Trailhead, chalet lot was just starting to be used. A little busy around the stadium area, but no issues out on the trail.

The Wirth North natural snow trails (Bridge Trail, Skyline/Front 9, and Tornado Alley) are in great shape for both skate and classic, with fresh grooming this morning. The artificial snow loop is also in good shape and a bit longer with the Ridgeline loop recently added. Good skis are safe everywhere, and if you are a beginner, I highly recommend the natural snow trails, as they are softer than the super-firm artificial snow loop.

Great conditions on the manufactured snow loop this morning. Cold, firm, and pretty quick considering the temps. Glad to have some more trails open, and looking forward to more hills soon.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Due to the extreme cold and wind, for the safety of our grooming staff and volunteers, we will not be grooming natural snow trails through the weekend. Most natural snow trails have been rolled, but not tracked for classic. Skyline and Bridge trail were fully groomed this morning, but are already quite wind blown in spots. We will still be grooming the snowmaking trails nightly. Ridgeline and La Squadra trails are almost done with snowmaking and will open soon, once the snow is pushed out. Grooming plans: Snowmaking will start on Twin Lakes on Monday. Any snowmaking trails not yet opened remain closed at this time, due to snowmaking equipment and vehicle traffic. Have a good holiday weekend and stay warm!

Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
Twin lake trail has about 8-10" of ungroomed snow. There is a small set of uneven classic tracks created by a few adventurous skiers sick of the manmade loop. The trail is begging for a little love from Loppet.

First time at Wirth snowmaking loop this season. Surprised to see only 2 km open while Hyland has had their 5K loop open for almost 2 weeks and Elm their 2.6 K loop open for 2 1/2 weeks. What was open was in good shape, plenty of skiers to ski in the new snow to the classic tracks making for a good ski.

It's a mixed bag. The partial manmade loop is excellent as always but none of the twin lake loop or natural sections of the back 9 have even been rolled even though there's now +8" of snow on them. Hopefully they can groom them in the next day or two.
