Elm Creek is now open to the neck before the whale tail [ i.e. south donut is not open -- Ed.]. The tracks are deep, firm but a bit icy. The deck looked like it might be a bit skittery.

Fast conditions as the grooming had set up nicely in the cooler overnight temps. The groomers have extended the trail past the practice area down to (but not including) the south donut; then returning up the big hill. The Strava segment had it at 1.12 miles.

Fantastic conditions this morning and all of the snow guns were blazing. We should have a nice, longer trail very soon.

Stop 3 of 4: Load of skiers out, probably in part to the 10 am time. Parking lot was about half full, but not crowded on the 1K loop. Loop remains the practice area to the donut. Hard to tell with the new 1/2" snow, but looks like there was manmade snow down to the start of the lower donut. Snow was beginning to get slower as temps pushed above freezing (and with the mix of fresh wet snow). Classic track looked good, and there were a lot of classic skiers out (50%?).

Nice, firm snow for skating this morning. But for a small handful of folks, I had the .80 mile trail to myself. Thanks to Elm Creek for such a nice trail this early in the season.

The classic track was great this morning, and there was even some light natural snow falling. Great work grooming crew!

The snow was a bit softer than it was Friday but was a fun ski. The tracks were firm and deep, it looked like the skate deck was getting a little soft with maybe an inch of loose snow on top by 9:30 am.

What a great little loop they have setup in such little time. Trail was soft this morning. Nice to get a little hill work in. The skate deck looked good. The classic tracks were deep. No worries about your good skis.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand

Open from the donut to the training area. Good tracks, good skiing, and they were working on the Valley trail. Also a sign at the Northern Lights turnoff saying snowmaking in progress. The freeze/thaw cycles have left a few small ice pebbles on the tracks, but no real issues.

The trail is open from the donut to the practice area, is excellent and the tracks are great. They are making snow from the practice area to the neck before the whale tail.
