Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Only the south half of the Valley trail is open. Park by the Bottineau house for best access. Tracks were surprisingly solid except by the closed practice area. There are a few icy patches on the south donut and bypass where I had no grip with skins and had to get out of tracks. Skate deck was somewhat soft. B skis due to dirt and leaf litter on the trail.

Deck was firm, great conditions. The groomers have done a great job leveling off the deck and cleaning trail. The south loop is all that is open.

I skied the back loop this morning from the practice area to whale tail and back. It was icy but could still get an edge. I commend the groomers.

Unskiable, hard packed like cement. Heard later that unable to groom due to lack of snow depth in some areas.

Trails are in rough shape and ended up talking with a grooming supervisor. From the practice area to the donut, it's too thin for the PistenBully and the smaller groomers can't break up the ice. It's solid, dirty ice. From the practice area to the whale tail and back, they were able to get the PistenBully out and break it up. It's firm, fast, ground up ice to ski on.

Not great. Need structure. Lots of structure. Low lying spots pooling water but most of trail skiable with respectable glide.

Sad trails but skiable, especially if you stick to south of the practice area. Puddle at bottom of hill by chalet. Need some colder temps.

Just a drive by. Nobody skiing. Some standing water on the trail and in the practice area. We had about 0.1 to 0.2 inches of rain in Maple Grove this morning.

Skied some classic some skate. Other than hill going down donut trails are still in decent condition. Getting a bit dirty by chalet. Hopefully next week brings snowmaking temps.

Can't believe the magic the grooming gods have created after yesterday afternoons meltdown! The tracks were shallower but still holding firm. The skate was fast and fun. I was afraid the doughnut would be scary icy but it was not. Be careful as you pass snoopy because the small section where the machines cross has soft wet snow that will slow you way down. As I swooshed past a groomer down by whale tail I yelled out "excellent job!".
