Skied the Ashland City trails at the Hospital today while my husband got a new hip. They are nice easy pretty darn flat trails. The new quarter inch of snow made them ok to ski. The tracks were pretty good, firm, solid, except for a ton of deer prints. The skate lane was pretty rutted from deer and icy. If you are in Ashland and want an easy ski or waiting for someone who had surgery bring the skis!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Ashland trails were groomed late this afternoon. Looks like the tracks set really well. Paula's Pond Loop was not groomed; didn't want to fight the wind.

Classic skied 13 km this afternoon. Warm weather and freshly groomed tracks made for an excellently peaceful ski. Conditions are soft due to the warm weather. Most noticeablely on the skate deck. Beautiful day! Thank you groomers.

Classic skied 13 km this morning, for a leg shake out ski. To get my legs moving before the Birkie tomorrow. When I skied it it was rolled soft powder. So I got more kicking than I originally expected, ouch :) Oddly enough, when I was finishing up the groomer came through and laid fresh perfect tracks. I stayed out of them to let the tracks firm up for you. Expect excellent classic skiing soon!! Thanks for making me tough groomers.

Classic skied 13 km, 44 minutes tonight after work. I don't like giving bad reviews... Conditions are a little rough, to terrible. Tracks are very old, uneven, hard, holes in areas, some snowed in, glide was pretty good, kick was ok. Skate deck is choppy, hard, two in inches of snow atop. Deer tramping around have wrecked the trail in areas, can be easy to break a pole. It was just a double-poling, meditative balance night ski. Just grateful to get out and ski!!

All trails open and in good condition. Another grooming pass would be nice, as there was app. 4" new snow today.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Rain is starting to turn into wintery mix here. Trail was obviously soft and not recommendable for skiing today. With the Birkie coming up, chose to get the day's scheduled cardio in on a recombinant bike and 80 minutes of "hill intervals", 1200 calories. Skiing will be good another day. Hoping for a change in weather.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Ran a 6 mile loop by the Ashland trail tonight after work. Conditions definitely looked soft after two days near 50°. Coworkers reported very warm soft conditions this morning. Unfortunately, due to this fact, I put aside the Carbon Pros and laced up the Invincible Runs.

Classic skied about 19 km, 62 minutes, this afternoon after work to wake my arms and legs up. Excellent ski to kick double-pole and double-pole, learning to keep the glide in the cold. Even though, the temperature is still chilly, the conditions are great here. The tracks are firm with kick, glide was spectacular with swix green. The skate deck was currently getting groomed as I skied. One disclaimer: the deer population has left holes and droppings here and there. With warming temperatures, it is going to be a phenomenal weekend of xc skiing! Thank you groomers.
