Excellent conditions, nice looking track although I skated. The deck is not overly wide but plenty with good technique. Forest is beautiful there!

We continued clearing, packing, and grooming Anvil today. All trails have now been groomed. Tracks are set on Military, Lake, East, West, and Ninemile trails. Military, East, and West are groomed wider for skate skiing. Expect debris in the trail. We removed all the downed trees but a lot of small sticks fell in the storm and are now packed into the trail.

The storm on Sunday/Monday dropped over 12 inches of snow with extreme winds. A lot of trees and limbs have fallen on the trails. Today we were able to clear, pack, groom, and set track on only Military Trail and Lake Loop. We packed and cleared trees from West trail with snowmobiles but did not groom it yet. Expect trees down on all other trails. Grooming plans: We plan to clear and groom the rest of the system tomorrow.

I thought I was going to skate ski today. However, the groomers report is very accurate. The skate deck needs a lot of work yet. I found it soft, undeveloped, and too narrow. Therefore I turned around at the intersection for West loop and headed back to my vehicle to don my classic skis. The classic track was good. Perhaps a little shallow with some debris in spots but overall it was just fine. I skied East, a short section of Nine Mile, Military, West and the Nine Mile back to the parking lot for a total of 15K. It was a pleasant ski outing with light snow falling.

Anvil was groomed this morning. Attempted to set tracks on Lake Loop but more snow is needed. Tracks were set on East, West, and Military Trail. Expect early season conditions. More snow is needed to level out the skate deck and higher moisture snow is needed to get a more solid base. Trail base is still soft in spots.

Over the past week Anvil received 5-7 inches of fluffy snow. We cleared and rolled all trails at Anvil today. There were a lot of trees and limbs down. Expect some debris in the trail. The packed snow depth is 2-3 inches, not enough to set tracks yet.
