Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I went down to the trail to put the equipment away for the year but after looking at the new snow, I decided to groom as the snow looked to good to pass up. Trail is groomed with two classic tracks from Menomonie to Irvington, one track with a wider skate lane from Irvington to Downsville and it looked very nice. Enjoy.

The Red Cedar trail was groomed for skating and classic from Menomonie to Downsville. A few inches of new snow and a firm base made for good results. Very good conditions.

The Red Cedar is groomed and tracked from Menomonie to Downsville. We had about 16 inches so I rolled the trail numerous times the last few days and finished grooming today. Two tracks are set from Menomonie to Irvington and one track with a much wider skating lane is set from Irvington to Downsville - expect it to be a bit soft. 26 deer crossed the trail in one group yesterday, the eagles are out daily and there is a pair of swans hanging close to the start in Menomonie so I hope you can get out to ski and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The skating lane on the Red Cedar trail was groomed from Menomonie to 1/4 mile north of Downsville Thursday. Classic tracks could not be set. Classic tracks are icy and somewhat deteriorated. Skate skiing is best from Irvington to Downsville. There is no snow under the bridge at Irvington. I skate skied from Irvington to just north of Downsville today and the track was fast and a bit rough in spots, but certainly skiable. A few spots of moderate debris.

Trail between Menomonie and Irvington was fair for skating because of foot and deer traffic and bark and seed litter and very good for classic. South of Irvington skate deck rated good although there was heavy seed litter in a few spots. It was 30 degrees and sunny. I used FastWax Blue LF. Still a nice albeit tiring 14 mile ski with great scenery.

Out skating with the groomers this morning south of Irvington. Plenty of snow down. With it coming in heavy, it will take a bit to settle in and work out the lumps. Classic track looked great!
