Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
We classic skied the Forestry Center around midday today. The tracks were just starting to soften in the shade and the sunny spots were slower already. Tracks are in good shape, well formed, intact except on the corners. There is debris in the tracks in places but it is sinking in so not the ski stopping kind. Full snow coverage, although we could see evidence of the snow beginning to melt in a couple of sunny spots off to the side of the trail. Reminder it was groomed as one almost 10k loop, so if you prefer to go a bit shorter, turn around don't keep going. Huge thank you to the groomers for that extra groom!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Bare ground ]
The inch and a half of new snow overnight didn't help anything, but fortunately a couple people had skied before me and skied in the track. Slower but absolutely gorgeous conditions. No debris in the tracks. Be aware that only one long outer loop is groomed so it's maybe 10 K with no groomed cut across options. Temp 21 degrees and calm.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Thanks to the crew for grooming one last time! The tracks were set, nice and firm and fast conditions. Definitely midwinter conditions. Almost no debris in the tracks despite the strong winds. Be aware that there is only one big loop groomed and it is probably seven or 8 km long. Not sure. None of the cut across trails were groomed.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Well, I didn't have time to put the groomer away last Friday so I groomed one last time this morning then put it away for the season while there is still snow on the ground. With the snow being a little colder this morning, the tracks turned out pretty good.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
We decided to ski the Cloquet Forestry Center today late afternoon since it was the last grooming of the season. Fantastic grooming throughout... a few places where the classic track vanished momentarily. here and there otherwise great tracks. No debris, mostly intact, full coverage and no ice. We did not realize it was one giant loop and ended up skiing quite a bit more than planned! Unfortunately two people who were skiing with four off leash dogs left quite a few footprints on about 1.5 miles of the track (dogs are supposed to be leashed here). Huge thank you to Mark and the other groomers for all their. hard work out there this year!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The trail is groomed and track is set. Good skis are ok for now but the sun is having it way in places. Tracks turned out good whenever I was in the shade but I had troubles in the sunny areas with the groomer and track setter icing up or loading up with heavy snow. This will be the last grooming of the year. Thanks to all that visited us this ski season.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
I was out this morning and set track where I could. I rerouted some parts of the trail in attempt to avoid some of the most sun baked places. It's spring rock ski conditions now and you should take your skis off to cross a couple spots where the snow has melted away.

Morning
Observation
I was out on the trail this morning picking up branches and to see if it is groomable. The trail is very icy, dirty and the tracks have mostly melted away. I don't recommend CFC for skiing at this time and we won't be grooming unless we get more snow.

Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All ]
I talked With the scout leader for the Scout Beargrease Derbey after they finished their event today on part of the ski trail. He says they didn't go out very far and that only a section of the yellow ski trail has the ski tracks wiped out from their event today. This is only a small part of the trail that we groom. Everything else was groomed on Thursday afternoon and not touched by the scouts.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I groomed and reset the track on all of the trail this afternoon. The tracks set nice except for several times where buried branches got stuck in the track setter. FYI, the scouts will be holding their Beargrease Derby on the CFC inner loop ski trail this Saturday morning until around 2 pm.
