Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Trails packed down by skier traffic. No tracks for classic. Could use a foot of snow! But it was beautiful out there.

Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All ]
We finished grooming the trails today but won't set a track until we get more snow. This is your chance to try skate skiing at CFC. There are a some places where a little dirt is showing but they can be avoided.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Kyle was out this morning to clear downed trees and start the packing process. I was out in the afternoon to pack and start grooming one side of both the orange and green (pink in past years) trails. We plan to continue grooming tomorrow but will wait for more snow to set a track.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
All trails have good snow coverage but none are groomed. Adventurous skiers are welcome to explore the trails just know that you'll have to take your skis off a few times if you want to do the full loops. Snow coverage is great but we have a handful of trees down across the trails. I skied our loops with my rock skis to assess conditions and clear fallen limbs by hand. I was able to get some nice stretches of skiing in through the great snow but needed to take my skis off to navigate over or around fallen trees at least twice. We will get to clearing fallen trees as soon as work schedules allow after the Thanksgiving weekend break.
Notice for the 2025-26 season: we are expecting higher levels of research-related snowmobile traffic across the experimental forest this winter. Exactly how this priority use might impact having the trails in decent condition for recreational use we don't yet know but we think both uses should be possible!
