2022-2023 season

Trail grooming is done for the season at the CFC but we guessed conditions would be still be good enough. The light snowfall this morning covered up most of the pine needles and small debris, just larger twigs to dodge here and there. Temperatures were just below freezing but the sunshine had softened the snow to be crust-free. Firm base with some drifted areas, variable conditions, skied-in tracks, but good overall. Great fun to be skiing on a sunny day in April.

We classic skied the Cloquet Forestry Center at 10:30 today. The trail was freshly groomed with nice tracks, shallow in a few spots but still great, but Mother Nature shook the debris off the trees last night and right into the tracks. Some was ski stopping, some was not. We had a big group and skied a lot of it deep into the tracks as it warmed up and it wasn't as bad on the way back.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We groomed and tracked the orange trail Friday afternoon. This is most likely our last time until next season when we hope to have our outer loop cleared of storm damaged trees and open for skiing along with what was available this ski season bringing out total groomed trail back to 10K.

Skied the groomed trail Monday evening and it was good especially considering it's almost April! A little icy in some spots and one area where the trail was thinning due to high sun impact but still very passable.

Groomed and set the track on the ski trail on the west side of University Rd. Some debris present so wouldn't recommend using your best skis. However, outdoor temperatures look downright balmy - with plenty of snow cover still present.

Nicely groomed and tracked in the morning. Mid-afternoon skiing was a pleasure-track was clean (debris is often a problem here) and had good depth. Using blue kick wax, had excellent grip and fairly good glide on most of the yellow/orange/red trail, with some glazing on the tracks in the second open area of Otter Creek, which has a big southern exposure). Little outer loop not groomed.

We skied the orange/red side of the Cloquet Forestry Center around 11 am today. The tracks were really solid and intact, pole plants great too. All of us, skins, zero's and waxless had amazing glide today too. There were quite a few footprints along the sides of the tracks but they did not interfere with our skis thankfully.

We groomed and tracked the orange loop today. The snow is wet but clean and the tracks looked to have turned out okay.
