Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomers were out yesterday and reset the skate deck and classic tracks on the Lighted Loop, 6k, and 10k. Today we continued and reset the skate deck and classic track on Y, Leo's, and 20k. Conditions are good! The chalet will be closed on Friday due to the extremely cold temperatures forecast. The chalet will reopen on Saturday with modified hours from 11 am to 6 pm. On Sunday the chalet will open with normal operating hours. Anyone visiting over the next few days, please exercise extreme caution with the cold temperatures and wind chills!

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomers were in Sunday morning to reset the skate deck. Classic was groomed last Friday. Trails are in good condition. Due to cold temps, the chalet will be closed Monday and Tuesday. If users do ski, extreme caution should be used out on the trails for debris. High winds tend to bring a lot of debris down out of the trees. The chalet will reopen on Wednesday, Jan 21 at 9 am. Grooming plans: Groomers will also be back out on Wednesday morning.

Made the drive up from Madison and glad I did. Solid base around the 20k and 10k loops with a light dusting of snow to make it feel like a winter wonderland. There are some stray sticks and pinecones, but can be avoided if you keep an eye out. Started on B skis and switched to good skis halfway through.

Took a drive up to Nine Mile – well worth the trip. Did the 20km loop. A solid base that was groomed yesterday with about a half inch of new snow, making downhills easily manageable. Tracks looked good as well. I was surprised that while skiing the whole 20km, I did not run into another skier.

The new snow transformed the icy boiler plate into an awesome deck with deep tracks in most places. Excellent skating with good control but not too fast.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Wausau received a few inches of snow overnight. We currently are averaging 3-4" of base throughout the system. Groomers have reset the skate deck and classic tracks on Main St., Lighted Loop, Y, Leos, 6k and 10k. Y is showing the best classic tracks, with Leo's and the Lighted loop both with good classic tracks. No grooming in the Alps yet, as were waiting for repairs on the machine we'll take in on those hills. Grooming plans: We plan to have the 20k done by the end of the day.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
I skied late afternoon/early evening Monday. It had been sunny, so I wished I had been able to get there sooner. It was icy; I was skating, but after roughly 8k I got my feet under me, and it was a good ski. I was reducing speed on downhills because there wasn't a lot of grip, but otherwise it was a decent ski for the situation. I did the 10k and went twice on the lighted loop. Not too many others were out there, which surprised me. I was actually using my good skis, but there was debris to avoid. I stepped around it.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate deck on all trails except the 20 k was reset. The surface was mostly hard granular with pockets of twigs and occasional ice patches like normal spring skiing. I used B skis to do parts of the trails near lodge and Leo's. The track on Y was re-set and was a bit slower than the other track.
