Skied everything except Dog Island starting just after 9am. Freshly groomed with plenty of edge. No frozen ruts. 10 out of 10. Very similar conditions that we had before the Birkie week storm. Still plenty of base. Very little debris. I used good skis. It was starting to soften up as plenty of sunshine up there. Have to imaging it will glaze overnight again so not sure what to expect for conditions tomorrow. I'm hopeful it gets groomed again in the morning but I do not have any inside info if it will or not.

Skied from the north parking lots, upper areas and Tram Lake loop. Everything but the Tram Lake was freshly groomed today. Ended around noon, was definitely getting pretty soft in the sun. Classic tracks weren't fresh but one could easily use them.

Lots of snow and mid winter conditions overall. Classic tracks were slow due to wind blown snow caught in them. Had good kick and glide with hard wax on the skate deck. Quite firm but not icy.

Ski Trail - Skate lane and new tracks set. Might be some water on the trail on Highland/Lowland. Should be nice skiing. Fatbike - Nothing new from earlier post. Should be good riding.

Thank you groomers! Unbelievable conditions for this time of year. Skied most of the trails; skate deck looked great if only a little soft in parts. Classic tracks varied from ok to very good. A couple of spots were not tracked yet, but the groomers were still out, so might be taken care of.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were freshly groomed and new tracks set this morning (it looked like all trails but Tram were freshly groomed). Conditions were very good with good depth tracks along almost the whole trail (only a few very short spots where one track couldn't get cut). Facebook post indicated they would regroom skate deck Sunday morning and asked that people ski in the morning before it got soft.

Excellently groomed but soft and thus slower. The portion of the first loop I skated was firmer than the second but inexplicably slower. (I had taken off my skis to get over the gate preventing snowmobiles from going on the trail. Did that pause slow me down until skis had "warmed up" again?) It was 18 degrees and sunny. I used FastWax Blue LF. Groomers had just completed when I arrived at noon. I was probably the third skater on the trail. Perfect classic track on two main loops. I didn't have time or probably the stamina to do the western loop. Tram was ungroomed. The southern leg of the first loop had been clear cut so you can see the really hilly terrain you cover on that portion of the trail. I know some may not like that timber harvest is done on this county owned property (I didn't when I first experienced it several years ago on the entry spur and. later on the northeast part of the 2nd loop) but you have to give the county credit for all the users it serves - skiers, fat tire bikers, snowmobilers and loggers.

Trails were in great shape with at least an inch of fresh ungroomed snow. The deck was a bit hard towards the beginning (had some pole slips), but was much better the further I got from the trailhead. What a fantastic set of trails!

If you're looking for some 'real' snow, Hickory has it. The grooming was fantastic, it was nice to have some actual powder versus the icy, hard conditions. Skate deck was firm, trail was packed and tracked. Classic tracks set and looked firm as well. I think there was one very small section on an uphill that was kinda icy, but there was enough to get an edge on it and it was just fine; had plenty of control on the downhills and the climbs. Again, kudos to the crew that groomed out there!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Ski Trail - All skate lanes were groomed with two implements this morning. Skiers were saying the trail was skiing very good. Tracks are hard and icy. Plan to groom again tomorrow morning. Enjoy!
