Last day of winter and probably my last Sugarbush ski for the season. From Oberg, skied the picnic ridge, hogback, Homestead and the Connector back to Oberg using my classic skin b skis. Deck and tracks were still firm as it froze overnight but was about 50 during the day. So snow was slow. About 5 places mostly on the connector where the snow was gone. Other than that, I was able to ski around all dirt and bare spots. Nice end of season ski and thanks to the groomers for a good year in spite of the low snow year.

Skied the P to F loop at the Britton Peak trailhead this morning. Stuck to the classic easy loop as my partner is nursing a MCL sprain. Trails were better than we expected, but not without bare spots (that seemed to always be mid hill). Skate skiing is probably impossible, but if you want to get out in the woods classic is ok. Weather was fantastic!

The snow fall has been a blessing and the groomer for Sugarbush has done a great job! The cold last night and below freezing temps today will carry great skiing thru the warmer temps forecast for tomorrow. 99% of the areas that were previously exposed are now well covered. Intermittent soft track was noticed, the skate deck seemed solid, no soft poling. The only part of the trail that is questionable is the east Oberg Loop as that had water crossing previously, Picnic Loop was groomed. I skied Hogback and part of upper Homestead, lovely, just lovely.

Grooming was under way when I left at 10am. 4 inches of heavy fresh snow made for slow and soft skating. Overnight cold should help a lot.

From Oberg trailhead skied the East Oberg loop and then back to parking lot to switch to skins. Skied Picnic loop and Homestead, then connector back to Oberg. Weather was very warm, but tracks supported my weight, but not my pole plants. Skins worked well in the varying conditions but overall snow was pretty slow. There were a few more bare spots than yesterday and one place where water covered the trail (West Oberg) and another where the snow was gone and I had to walk a few feet. Slow going and I would advise waiting for colder weather.

Skate from Oberg trailhead the Picnic ridge, Hogback, Homestead and the Connector. Skate deck remains very firm and fast but not icy. Tracks looked well formed, but glazed. Some bare spots are starting to emerge sporadically on all trails, all easily avoidable. Temps have been around freezing during the day and below at night, but that may be ending. For now the skiing is very good.

Skied the Picnic loop clockwise from Briton Peak TH. Hogback was not freshly groomed but in great shape, with only a few bare spots, all easily avoidable. Midday sun was starting to soften up and slow open areas, A few of the loops closer to the trailhead were groomed more recently. Great ski on a beautiful bluebird day. I was pretty disappointed to return to my vehicle to find my ski clips stolen from my vehicle.

I started skate skiing about 9:15 from the Britton Parking lot and made my way to the Picnic loop via Hogback. From there I skied the Oberg loop, up the Onion River Rd and back then back to Britton via upper Homestead. The loops near the Britton parking lot were the only loops recently groomed. The rest of the system hasn't been groomed recently. It was definitely spring conditions icy to start with on the ungroomed trails and then instantly transformed to soft snow when the heat of the sun kicked in. Great day for skiing at this great place. There were some thin spots with ground popping through occasionally. But nothing that couldn't be avoided. I did see water starting to collect in some low spots.

Started at Britton Peak trailhead. My first time at these trails, looking forward to coming back. I got a late morning start, skated the Homestead loop. There were 3-4 bare spots, but overall great coverage. I would recommend getting an earlier start as it was starting to get soft and slow. I talked to some one who had skied 1-2 hours earlier, and he said it was almost too fast, and switched over to soft and slow quickly (it's open maple forest). The groomers do a great job here. I am looking forward to skiing the Picnic loop when I have enough time.

From Britton Peak, skied the Picnic loop, connector, Homestead and Bridge and Wood Duck this afternoon in temps in the high 20's. Skate deck was very firm and fast but not too icy. Edging was very doable. Classic tracks looked shallow and glazed, so I was glad to be skating. A few thin spots on lower elevation trails but good skis were not a problem. Hopefully temps won't get too high to mess this up and I can do it a few more times over the next few days.
