Newly groomed trails today eliminated the hiking boots tracks from earlier this week. Some leaves and twigs on the trails through trees, a few spots with a lot of debris where the park crew has taken out trees, but they are easy to go around. Fast skate deck (Red Trail) and so fun to be the first to make tracks through it! The accompanying classic tracks looked great on the Red Trail, too.

The snow deck has some thin spots and there was no apparent groomed classic track. The skier-made track that does exist is poor-to-fair because of damage from skiers, deer, and walkers who won't stay off of the trail. We mostly skied while the air temperature was still below freezing, but towards the end of our ski the conditions were becoming sticky because the temperature rose about 32 F. The conditions are fine for some getting some outdoor exercise, but don't expect too much.

Excellent skiing this morning at St. Croix Bluffs! Well groomed skate trails with minimal debris and very few other skiers having used the trails! The blue trail has been expanded through new parkland and doesn't go through the campground any longer. The yellow trail was great as well! New parking lot and trailhead as well. Love this gem of a park that is barely used (except for the deer - came across many of them this morning!). Red trail for classic skiing was well groomed and great, too!

Skied the east and west loops in fresh snow ahead of the groomer this morning. No classic tracks set but smooth, flat, no ice. Great day to hit the trails, had them all to myself this morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Ski trails were groomed for skate skiing. They are in fair/poor condition with thin snow cover. No tracks have been set. Tentative plan is to groom St. Croix Bluffs in the new year.
