Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied most of the trails this morning. Tracks were great and pretty fast throughout. Skate deck looked good as well. Conditions varied from cold dry powder to icy. Get out there soon because these conditions won’t last if we don’t get new snow... Happy Birkie weekend!

An excellent corduroy good ski kind of day. Skied all skate trails except for suicide hill (I never ski that trail). Really enjoyed the new lollipop loop with the beautiful pine trees on the top of the loop. You need to ski Judy’s Loop to get to lollipop. Perch lake shelter Parking lot was empty when we started and full when we finished. Lots of snowshoers out today which is great for the fat tire bikers.

Excellent conditions on all segments. The groomers did a fantastic job freshening things up. Perfect extra blue type day.

Freshly groomed trails and pristine conditions. I was the first skate skier on the trails and loved leaving my track on fresh corduroy.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Finally I can say good skis. 10 inches can go pretty far with a trail system. The trails got rolled last night and again this morning before the deck was set and new classic tracks laid down. The upcoming cold temperatures should allow everything to get rock solid. If you can withstand the brisk temperatures skiing should be pretty good. Enjoy it and bundle up.

Enjoyed my first 2021 ski at Washburn with a wonderful experience. A few dirty and/or off camber areas that could be easily avoided. Enjoyed the new Lollipop Trail that was in pristine conditions. Managed to squeak out a 10 mile loop by skiing most of the trails.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skied roughly 10k and conditions were very good overall. I used my good skis, and I think most people could, but there are enough pockets of lightly covered dirt that made me click the B ski rating. Skate lanes appeared soft on the sections of trail I was on (basically the south loops). The grooming crew has done a fantastic job with the amount of snow we have.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
All trail segments were groomed this evening. With the 3 inches of snow from last night, we were able to set classic tracks. The cold evening temperatures should help everything firm up nicely. This year there are two changes on the trail that was exclusive to classic skiers. Now the "landfill loop", and "classic double track" are open to both classic and skate skiers. Just be aware while you are out there.

Terrific terrain! Skated this beautiful track today for the first time. Good coverage, great glide throughout. With hills named “suicide hill” and “herringbone hill” there are a number of tough climbs rewarded by fun glides. Put this track on your to do list! Carpe Skiem!

Cleaned up the deck this morning.  Not to sound like a broken record, but stubble is still there, along with some leaves and thin spots.  It is still rock ski season.  Keep your fingers crossed for snow.
