Classic skied on Saturday, night and day difference between prior midweek grooming. Unlevel, rutted, debris everywhere. Skate ski on Sunday, night and day difference from Saturday, more level, less ruts, less debris, cold and hard. What was poor I would grade fair/good. I used my B skis. Some track was removed on lower soccer field? Downhills were manageable, areas that the groomer had been through had enough snow to edge. Other areas were hard to edge.

All trails groomed, some track was set. With minimal snow, the trails are thin with grass and leaves in sections. Blowing and drifting in open areas filled in quickly. Base is packed down and leveling out. Fair to good condition.

Back out on Elver before the freeze. Looks like the groomers were out in the last 24 hours, as the base is now thoroughly packed down. No classic tracks. Trail is looking thin in several spots with grass or roots sticking through, particularly in the Northwest woods loop. So use skis you're not worried about or use extra caution, especially at the turnaround points.

Elver's back! With the couple inches overnight, we now have a fair skate deck at Elver again. I kept in the northwest trail system and the hills which had overall good conditions. There are a few spots around sharp turns that are becoming a bit thin that caused some slight damage, which is why I'd stick with B skis.

All trails combed (except East Classic uphill). Not enough snow to set track. Snow depth is varied. Boilerplate ice is underneath in uphill and downhill sections (use caution). Conditions are suitable for rock skis or B skis. Put your snow dancing shoes on!

Lots of fresh snow and people out skiing. Trails weren't groomed at the time. On the west side, folks have skied a classic track around the open field in the woods. Some spots where the leafs or twigs are visible under snow but there is a solid covering.

Some bare spots after the most recent grooming, but not crazy. Still a lot of leaves on the east trails, but the west loops were good. Occasional stick on the trail hence B ski recommendation. Tracks were holding despite warmer temps, but some of the downhill sections were getting icy.

Condition remains excellent with well formed track and solid skater deck. In treed areas would downgrade to very good due to excess leaves on trail (mostly in tracks). As first time skiers here, we found signage a little hard to navigate due to lack of "you are here" dots on maps, and unclear directional markers. It is so great to have good skiing in Madison in mid December! Pavilion not open yet, but bathrooms are.

Unbelievably good conditions thanks to thorough, wide grooming after the icy precip Tuesday night -- hats off to the groomers! Classic tracks were also reset throughout, at least wherever they followed the skate deck. Skier-set tracks wherever it was ungroomed. Some leaf litter in spots, but not bad. Only a couple thin spots. Skate deck is pretty firm, well-used even though clearly was groomed today. I think I skied all the loops, lighted and non-lighted. Will wear a brighter headlamp on the non-lighted trails next time to better spot trail signs and skate tracks that dug in a bit deeper. High school and middle schoolers practicing on the lighted trails were especially accommodating, kindly sharing the trail with all of us after work!

Got out on the windy morning. Skate deck had been recently groomed, but definitely signs of use. Was on the slower end due to the cold, but still great skiing. Only downside is the wind has led to some fresh leaves and sticks on the ground. Hoping some new snow can add a boost.
