Trail Detail
Notes
The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.Trail Reports

Very icy/hard. Skied the "C" loop at 3 PM after seeing it had been groomed yesterday. Temp was 28 F, and both skate deck and classic track were icy, with frozen solid skate marks in the skate lane. Very fast - a bit treacherous, even on the "C " loop. Two brown ice ponds between "B" and "C" that you could ski across. Yesterday's thaw later in the day and the low temps overnight and today froze things solid. Used skin classic skis, which worked pretty well on these conditions.

Icy conditions - yikes! A lot of ruts so it was really hard to skate. I spent a lot of time in the classic tracks which were set relatively well. It's really hard to find a good place to ski this time of year that grooms their trails. But, it was better than no skiing!

I skated most of the system, minus the loop at the very bottom and the chalet loop, starting at 5:30pm. The system had been groomed earlier in the day and a couple of the side loops still had cord. There was about 3/4" of refreezing sugar cord on top of a very solid deck which made for a quick controlled skate. I stepped in the well formed deep tracks on several downhills and flew faster than I have in a long time. It is all about timing/temp/sun in the spring and it seems I read the conditions right tonight.

Groomed this morning. Tracks are not set on some sections, like G-H and K-A. I can't tell you about the trail to the Pavilion because we parked at the first bridge on Seven Bridges Road. The D, G, I, and J loops are tracked. Overall, conditions were terrific for classic, firm when we started, getting mushy when we finished up. The skate lane was quite soft and mushy.

Groomers went by as I was parking. Skate deck was soft, classic tracks looked amazing. Groomers were focusing on the main 3K lighted loop, but I assume that they will groom the whole trail network after setting the lighted loop. Thank you groomers for keeping up with caring for all the trails this season!

Firm/icy conditions at Lester this morning. Should improve if the day warms up. The skate deck has iced the skate grooves in, which made it a little tricky in some parts. Minor occasional debris on trail. Classic track was in good condition and lightning fast. Overall great March skiing.

Hard skating base today with some deep cut grooves but not bad. Very quick on the downhills. Chilly but fun afternoon.

Classic skied Lester at 11 am. They had kinda groomed. I did the "easy" b to c loop. Beyond that nothing had been groomed. The grooming started out on just one side, the other side had skied in or old tracks, wasn't sure, Lester is not a place I frequent. The middle was groomed but pretty rough. Once I got to the other side, there were groomed tracks on both sides and the middle was done too. The tracks on the right were rough and bumpy, the left were good. Pole plants were soft but not the kind that go super far down. There were two ice patches: the first was solid, the second which was more in the skate lane was open water under slush.
