There is just barely enough coverage for the trails, but what a joy to get out finally! Areas under trees were in the worst condition with a lot of debris and grass showing. However, where there was snow it was hard packed and fast. The loop along Milward Dr had the best, most consistent snow coverage.

If you're like me and hadn't been out yet this season, it was a complete joy! Groomed for skating with plenty of classic track made by skiers. Soft out there so by evening things looked sloppy. A few spots are thin with grass poking through and debris under trees. I did not ski the whole system, I believe it was all groomed. We stayed on the medium loop.

Hard packed trail. Some spots that were a little bumpy and icy, but overall really easy gliding. Some leaves down on the wooded areas but nothing that tripped me up.

Base of the classic track was firm, though the sidewalls were fairly blown out. Definitely doable, but needs a touch up. Groomer was out with the Tidd on the skate deck. Overall, it was good to get out this early in Madison.

Oh Happy Days! Wonderful out there. Nicely groomed and tracked. The snow is clean, fresh, and white. The deck is well set. Just a tad on the soft side. But boy oh boy is it nice to have such great skiing so early in the season.
