Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I was able to eke out a decent classic ski this morning around 9:30. The trails yesterday were decent and today they’d deteriorated to the point where only the die-hards were out. I was the only strider. Great test of my mindfulness, judgment, and perseverance. I enjoyed it immensely.

Trails were freshly groomed, though high winds and new snow resulted in significant drifting in more exposed areas of the track. Otherwise, snow was squeaky as styrofoam and ready for fun!

Great classic tracks. Had been groomed Sunday morning. I like that the gap between classic tracks. Snow coverage is good with fresh snow. Great location for beginners.

Nearly all of the trail is well groomed, well covered and in good condition with very fast skating conditions. One short bare spot is easily passible.

I skied the newly groomed outer loop twice today and it was surprisingly good with as little snow as they’ve had to work with. A bit icy in a few spots. I handled the moderate hills here with ease. A little tricky going uphill with my waxless skis. Kudos to the groomer!

I've lost count of the number of fantastic ski outings at Odana this season -- no need to travel far and wide for the best stride track and skate deck in the Madison area. I'm a "Fresh Corduroy Fool" for groomer Brandon's skill in laying a seamless platform with wide enough berth to accommodate all levels of skiers. Lots of smiling faces today -- and for the umpteenth time for over 2 months! The trail system and conditions on Odana are underrated and underestimated for beauty and challenge. Something for everyone! Well worth the trail pass fee. So appreciate Brandon's effort and dedication!

The skate deck was fast and solid. Classic tracks were perfect. First time here and I was very impressed. Lots of people but I hardly noticed with how much space there is. Outhouse on site for the well hydrated.

Very good skate conditions this morning. Sure, there are some uneven areas, leaves, and a few thin spots to watch out for, but I really can’t complain for mid-December in southern Wisconsin. The playground loop wasn’t quite as good as the main golf course loop, but it was plenty skiable. I didn’t use my good skis but probably could have. Lots of skiers out enjoying it today! Classic tracks were set and looked pretty good.

Plenty of coverage. Skied-in classic tracks, soft as expected. No grooming has occurred thus far and there's no skate deck. The lot is quite icy.
