April skiing! Hiawatha has not been groomed but by the time I went in the afternoon people had made classic tracks. The snow was pretty mushy. It would be great if the course could be groomed one more time :).

Crust skiing in the morning before the snow gets soft has been surprisingly good this week. I went this morning at 9. Just me and about 100 geese out. There are many bare spots on greens and sand traps, and the first hill down from the parking lot has lots of bare ground - look before you leap! The track (not groomed in over a week) is icy and not very good. Off the track on the crust was fast and fun. There were many more refrozen foot track potholes today than on Monday. Best season on Hiawatha I can remember!

Soft slow spring ski - so glad we went! Did three laps in the time it usually takes to do four. Had a great time. Thank you to the groomers!

It's been such a great year of skiing that it's hard to let go, so I headed over to Hiawatha. The classic track is very shallow but surprisingly good. There are a few spots where it's glare ice but otherwise there is enough of a little layer of fresh powder. The skate ski track looked very icy but there were a few people out. The wind was howling but it was great to get in another ski. Such a gem to have this right in the neighborhoode, the ski pass has been $50 very well spent!

The good news is the trail is still intact with decent coverage throughout. The bad news is the stake deck is rock-hard ice and rutted with intermittent portions of drifted snow. Until temps warm up a bit to soften the pack, you're best bet might be classic or crusty touring--that is if you're desperate to ski and Hiawatha is your only option. The shallow, rock hard classic track have some blown-in snow to gives some kick. There are no signs of recent grooming. Conditions might naturally improve over the weekend.

Skated around 6:30 pm, and after temps in the 40s all day, the slushy trail was not unexpected. Full coverage over the entire trail with only a few easily avoidable twigs here and there, so best skis are fine. A few classic skiers out, also moving slowly, but the tracks appeared to still be in fairly good shape. Many thanks to the groomers for keeping the trails in good shape under warming conditions. In mid-March, I'm happy to take slow skiing over no skiing!

Hiawatha is in great shape with a firm skate deck and no ice anywhere! Thank you groomers! Saw a coyote this morning cross the ski trail.

Conditions still excellent. Classic tracks holding up nicely, well defined and not icy. Skate deck looked good too. Enjoy!

Amazing conditions this morning on both classic and skate. The skijorg didn't look great. I was the maybe the third person out there.
