Like the groomer mentioned in an earlier report, the classic tracks are a bit shallow and washed out in places with last week's warmer weather, but still really nice conditions and a great place to get out and ski. There aren't any bare patches so you can use your good skis. I have been so grateful this season for the frequent, immediate, and thorough grooming on this course. Every time it snows, they are out there right away. Thank you, groomers!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and tracked Columbia this morning. The tracks aren’t deep as yesterday, but the trail is in good shape. Still a little dirty along the parkway, but all and all, it’s good skiing.
Head out and ski Columbia! Enjoy!

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Enjoyed a couple classic loops into and after the sunset both today and yesterday. What a great, accessible way to burn calories and enjoy our fair city! Even without lights, Columbia is great course for night skiing. The city’s ambient light permits reasonable definition to make it an easy go-to after work or when you don’t want the hustle of Theo or the long drive to other suburban locations. The tracks were in good shape with a few exceptions. The weather and wear over the past 24 hours has caused some anomalies with the classic track and there are issues with under-melt softening both the tracks and the deck. Even so, Columbia’s groomers did a great job! Again, nothing troubling – though without more snow may continue to decline. For me, it was a red-wax classic day, but very enjoyable and I was able to achieve a nice glide. I am always surprised this course is not busy and I raise my glass to the grooming crew!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied early afternoon, found the fresh grooming was still in excellent condition. While temps were pushing 33-34F, the snow was still cold and skied very well. Skate deck was in excellent shape, and classic tracks felt good too. Excellent grooming. Good skis, no problem, although there is a strange discolored area on the far south end (short stretch, not more than 20 ft) -- almost looks like road spray but its too far from the road.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed the skate deck of Columbia this morning. Did not reset track just for preservation of the snow, but track is in great shape for 98% of the course. Trail has held up well with the warm temperatures, however, there is some dirty snow from snowblowers clearing the parkway trail near the archery range. Columbia is in great shape! Ski and enjoy!

Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed it last night and set tracks. Skied it first thing this morning and although a bit soft given the temps, Columbia is still in great shape. Full coverage, great skate deck and full classic tracks.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and tracked Columbia this morning. Wind is picking up, so I expect there will be some drifting, but it was in really good shape as you can imagine. It’ll be a bit soft until it sets up.

Fast snow! Icy crystals. No bare areas. Beautiful. Well-groomed and tracked. Some leaves on the tracks, but not too difficult to pass through those areas. Thank you!

Groomed and tracked Columbia this morning. Trail is in excellent shape. It’s going to be warm today, but should set up nicely. The trail reflects the photo throughout the whole course. Columbia looks great! Get out and enjoy!
