Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and tracked Columbia this morning. Wind is picking up, so I expect there will be some drifting, but it was in really good shape as you can imagine. It’ll be a bit soft until it sets up.

Fast snow! Icy crystals. No bare areas. Beautiful. Well-groomed and tracked. Some leaves on the tracks, but not too difficult to pass through those areas. Thank you!

Groomed and tracked Columbia this morning. Trail is in excellent shape. It’s going to be warm today, but should set up nicely. The trail reflects the photo throughout the whole course. Columbia looks great! Get out and enjoy!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
My afternoon ski: An inch or so of wind-swept snow over a firm skate deck. Very skiable, but not groomed since last night. Slower than corduroy, but with a nice floating feeling. Tracks were not discernible except where briefly skied in.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Had a good classic ski this morning. As Jim said in his grooming report yesterday, tracks are shallow but very skiable. They are also surprisingly clean as I have been reading lots of reports of leaf debris. Just a few small patches of minimal leaf debris.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We skied a few quick laps at Columbia in advance of the afternoon Vikings game in the hopes of sending some good mojo (alas, this did not work, but maybe next year). The trail was in excellent condition, and I was surprised at how well it had combed up to give a nice edge for the skate deck and really decent classic tracks as well. There was one ice section next to a low-lying area, but it was easy to navigate, and there was surprisingly very little in the way of leaf or stick debris that tends to plague the trails when we've not had new snow for awhile. It is really great to have this trail close to home and showing such good conditions this year - many thanks for the grooming staff.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and tracked Columbia this morning. The trail is in good shape all around. Still thin and some icy areas to watch out for, but otherwise, it has full coverage on the skate deck and the tracks. Tracks may be a bit shallower than yesterday as the snow is more firm than when it was tracked lat, but it still looks pretty good in most spots. Photo gives some perspective.

Nice "coffee cake crumble" on the skate deck. No bare spots and almost no ice. A nice start to a sunny day. Way to go Jim Daggett; this is the place to ski right now.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed and tracked Columbia tonight. It could use some more snow, but the groomer was able to churn up the trail and made for a nice skate deck. The tracks were also set, and aside from being thin and shallow, they are in decent shape. You can ski good skis on it, but keep an eye out for thin or bare spots. I threw some shovel fulls of snow on a few thin and icy parts, but the conditions aren’t too bad considering how much warm weather we’ve had. Columbia is a good trail to ski right now. Think snow and get out to Columbia!
