Morning
Firsthand: Classic

Pretty good on the north side of Isles just before dawn this morning, icy double poling on the south side. Tracks pretty firm and deep with only a few exceptions. Fingers crossed for more snow than rain this week!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Completely groomed Maka Ska, Isles, Channels, Cedar and the Cedar Land Route. Conditions are firming up now, the only issue being wind blown snow and drifting on some of the east sides. Next few days will be epic so enjoy while we have it.

Cedar Lake is near perfect, 95% groomed. A few easily managed washouts. Used 205cm Madshus RACE classics and loved every minute of it.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Lake of the Isles, the Channel, Cedar and the Cedar Land Route have all been groomed and tracked as of this morning, a nice triple wide skate deck with classic tracks on either side. The snow was deep and drifted on parts of the lakes and therefore the desck and tracks will be soft in spots until it sets. Maka Ska is not yet groomed as of noon because the other grooming took so much time but the crews will get to it. As always on the Lakes, walking and cycling are on the groomed outside track, with skiiing in the middle between the two classic tracks.

Skate deck report from a 2 hour after work ski: Bde Maka Ska = ungroomed, bit of a slog. Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake = groomed but the skate deck is soft (slooow) and narrow with fresh snow on top slowing things down even more. Brownie = ungroomed. Quaking Bog, Anwatin = well groomed, especially in the woods. Best skiing of the day here, still a bit soft but very fun. Wirth Lake = groomed but soft JD Rivers = groomed but soft.

Ungroomed or user groomed at Lake Bde Mka Ska. 4-6" fresh powder over 95% lake. Some crust and Ice. Slow but fun with my Madshus BC62 skis and BC boots.

I tried skate skiing Isles at noon. While it was possible, it sounded like I was going to take the bottoms off my skis so I turned around and gave up. Hope this snow storm comes and the groomers, too!

Skied Cedar and Lake of the Isles. Unsurprisingly, the wind yesterday really did a number on the path. You can see where the trail was, but on the east side of the lake there is just hardpack snow/ice where everything has blown off. West side of Lake of the Isles is OK, and the lee around the islands, but it's still pretty tough sledding!

Bde Maka Ska not groomed at all; couple inches of fluff on ice; a little rough but skiable. Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake both groomed and pretty good skiing.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied Lake of the Isles and Cedar, Bde was not groomed but there were a couple classic tracks. Both lakes had a layer of softer groomed snow over a firm/sometimes icy base. The channels were icy, as usual, and had a few twigs to watch out for.
