Great conditions- track set well and deep. Freshly groomed and fast. Wanted to ski the 5 K connector to Tettegouche but decided to go to bean lake which has amazing topography then we skied multiple trails back to get in about 12-13 K - there's a huge uphill that seems to never end right before the connector to Tettegouche - but the view at the top
Is amazing and worth the climb!

First time on this trail. Very nice single track with gradual climbs and descents. We were among the first out on new grooming after about 8 inches of snow. No maps were available and the map board is not specific. View Skinnyski trail map before you go. Didn't find any directional signs and no signs at intersections. Easy to get turned around. Travel is clockwise. Worth a trip, especially with new snow.

Skied medium loop (second right after leaving trailhead). Well-groomed with a good base. A fair amount of woody debris on the trail following high winds earlier this week, especially near the beginning. Good conditions overall but icy in spots making the hills fast.

Trails are in need of more snow but still worth a ski, some spots of heavy duff on the way in, and most trails have places where the tracks have been wiped out. Overall slower than expected for the cold, could've used a fresh coat of glide wax. Skier set tracks on Bean trail are pretty decent, rougher in low area along the pond, lots of little humps. The payoff is ideal conditions on Bean and Bear Lakes with a stiff crust about an inch deep, good coverage on the west end of Bean and enough to get by the rinks along the south. Full coverage on Bear too, just remember the wind will likely be at your face on the way back!

Another amazing day in the northwoods! Skied the outer loop towards Tettegouche and then out to the Bean Lake intersection. Trails were just fantastic in the 38 degree temps. Nice to ski in the woods away from the wind.

Amazing! Groomed with a nice set of tracks. Just past the start there is a good deal of woodpecker debris on the trail but it gets better past that into the woods. Warm, sunny, and would have been peaceful without the military jets constantly flying back and forth all afternoon.

Northwoods is classic only with narrow single track like Korkki, but less challenging and more scenic with the Beaver River, Bean Lake, cliffs and hills. The trail is in very good condition, except for occasional washed out tracks. The Tettegouche connector wasn't groomed, but that is maintained by Tettegouche State Park and likely needs a bit more snow. The groomer here always impresses me with what they can do with the snow they have.

Initial trail is not in great condition with uneven tracks and many areas of heavy duff from treefall. After the second turnoff the tracks have sunk so much my boots were catching on the sides, making for slow going and many near stumbles, not recommended. But tracks on Bean Lake trail were fairly good, and the route back to the trailhead from Birch Corner was well set and fast. Snow crust is already icy on the sides of the tracks so poles don't provide much help slowing down on declines.

Beautiful conditions. Good coverage, some sticks visible in some spots but no scraping. Great side trip to Bean Lake. It was my first time at Northwoods and it was wonderful! I will be back!

We skied the nearest three loops out to the start of the Bean Lake spur. All those trails are fully covered and tracked. The tracks are somewhat icy so we avoided the avoided the bigger hill further in, though the ones we did were manageable.
