Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All City Park trails were groomed and tracked today. Conditions may be a bit soft for a few hours, but the base underneath is firm. Should be great conditions.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skated the Spooner City Park Trails this evening. The skate lane was recently groomed, level, and had good coverage. I used my good skis. There were a few ruts and there was an occasional icy spot. Generally speaking, the trails offered good skating with good control. The classic track was firm but thin in spots. The fat bike trails at the park have also been groomed and are in excellent shape. Outdoor enthusiast are also enjoying the new, state of art warming house and the lights are on at the park until 9 each night.

The trails are good at city park. There was a thin layer of powder getting worked in on top of a somewhat crunchy base. I had no issues with getting an edge anywhere on the trail though. Classic tracks were there, but had some powder where people had not skied yet.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skated the Spooner City Trails this evening. The trails were level and firm with good control and coverage, I used my good skis. There was about an inch of new snow on top of the skate lane. The tracks are firm and medium depth and the new snow has been skied in. The youth ski league held their practice after school and there were many happy skiers out enjoying the trails. The lights are on and the warming house is open. Enjoy!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
City park trails were in great condition. The classic tracks were solid and the skate deck looked great as well. The cold weather has helped the trail base set up nicely.

First time on the Spooner city trail. Freshly groomed and still a little soft but great to be out on real snow. Skate Skied all loops except the short black loop.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I groomed and tracked all City Park trails today, after yesterday's 5-6" of very nice snow. A number of new bent-over small trees were encountered, especially on lower Gravel Pit and the east half of Roller Coaster. I just blasted through them (taking it on the chin, so to speak), hoping they would spring back. Most did, but there are a few low bridges yet. Next grooming we'll bring nippers. In the mean time it does make your ski more interesting.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
I observed the Spooner City Trails yesterday around noon, the trails had been groomed for skating on Saturday after the area recieved about an inch or two of new snow. The skate lane has a good base, that is level with moderate control. There are still some icy sections with some light debris. The classic track is shallow but firm. Hopefully we can pick up a couple more inches of snow and that would really help the entire trail system. Lights are on each night! Happy Holidays!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Finished grooming and tracking this afternoon. Some drifting is occurring in the open areas (soccer field). Some areas are a bit rough because of icy ski ruts from a few days ago, but most of the system is pretty good now. Deck is very firm. Lots of sticks are blowing down, with the winds. If you're skiing, please help by tossing them off trail!
