Cross-country ski trails are closed at Navarino. Recent rains and warm spells have created bare spots and icy / hard packed snow conditions. All trails are now open to walkers, hikers, snowshoers and dog walking.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All ski trails on Navarino have been groomed and tracked following the 5-7" of snow received Monday to Tuesday. Trails are now tracked in both directions for traditional skiers, with a skate lane in the middle of the trail. Trail donations are encouraged as there are no fees to use the trails. The Navarino Wildlife Area has miles of other trails that are not packed or tracked for those that would like to break trail or snowshoe. Skiers talked to over the last weekend reported the trails were in wonderful condition. Navarino remains a "hidden gem".

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails on Navarino are packed and tracked for the weekend. Snow is sugary, however is setting up in the sun. Base is nice, and a nice texture for the skate ski lane is visible. We are tracking on both sides on sections of trails to allow skiers pathways to get out and back. Winter open house at Navarino is tomorrow Saturday, Feb. 15 with free use of skis and snowshoes during the event.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Was thinking that with the cooler temps, trail would hard and fast and would offer a good glide. Parts were good, with minimal debris and only a few thin or icy spots. But the hills on south side of the flowage along the yellow trail are very tough to ski due to people hiking on trail in warm weather. Skied back across the edge of the flowage and found that much safer and enjoyable. Like other groomed state forest ski trails, I wish this system would be posted against hiking in ski season. Classical tracks holding up ok.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All ski trails on Navarino were re-surfaced and tracked today with the exception of the north section of the yellow loop due to logging. Trails were worked up to create a new surface, new tracks and to get many of the traffic from last weekend cleaned up. There is a nice base that allowed us to break the ice top and create a new surface.

Skier reported to staff today that some equipment had driven on the ski trails. Staff took the groomer out and re-groomed affected sections of trail. Logging is to the north of the ski trails. Grooming plans are likely a full grooming on Thursday.
