Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Arrived Wednesday at about 11:00. Looks like we were the first classic skiers since the light snowfall on Monday night. Tracks were all groomed and very fast. The light snow helped with hill climbing in the tracks. Some thin spots (3 or 4 on south facing hills), but no bare spots and no areas of concern. I used good skis with no problem. Skied about 14 kilometers with my wife and had a great time with cool temps and shining sun. Thanks, Bryan, for all your hard work, updates and photos! Attached is a photo skiing west on the outer loop, between markers 8 and 9, just after the shelter on the hilltop.

A light 1/4 inch of granular snow overnight made for great conditions after the grooming late last week. No icy areas on the skate deck and the light textured snow laid nicely in the classic track to cover any ice at bottom of track. I jumped in the track on many of the downward hills and easily stayed in them.

1.5 inches of new snow that didn't melt to nothing. Groomed the skate lanes and was just enough new snow to set a fair classic track on all trail segments (interior and outer loop). Some of the icy deck is showing at bottom of track in places.

Got on the tracks about 10:50 am, hoping to hit the sweet spot - tracks not too icy, while not getting too soft. My timing worked! Did the outer loop three times and also a couple interior trails. I only experienced a couple areas where grass was poking through, but could get around them. Tracks were well defined. Deck looked great, too. I left around 1 pm, and it was getting soft then. I skied yesterday at LL, also, but got going later. Today was better. Great grooming! Thank you!

Rain Monday night caused icy conditions. Reset classic track on Outer Loop only (one pass ripping our icy track, 2nd pass setting a new track). Made two overlapping passes on all skate lanes. Did not do interior classic tracks, so be careful there on the icy track.

Great skiing. Outer loop tracks are debris free and set well. Waxable and skin skis had great glide and good kick. Really appreciate the great conditions that the trails are kept in throughout the season!

A full 1/4 inch of new snow last night! I classic skied in the light snow on the outer loop, upper interior segments and parts of the lower interior classic trails. The next skiers should a bit faster track than me. An enjoyable ski with very few if any leaves to contend with.

No new snow, but regroomed all skating lanes. Also set a new track on the southern interior classic ski trails. The outer loop classic track was not redone sine it looked decent since the last time it was set.

Trails freshly groomed and tracked after recent snow. About 1/4 to 1/2 inch of snow had settled in the tracks before we started. The outer loop was exquisite. Well defined tracks on top of a firm base. The deeper but fluffy snow on South inner loops moderated speed on the bigger downhill sections. Deep snow through the Bog trail made it passable to make tracks. North inner loops were tracked and beautiful to ski. Temp was 15 with calm wind when we started at about noon. It warmed to 17, then cooled to 12 with 20+ mph gusts by end of third outer loop at about 3:30.
