Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The Anoka County website showed last groomed Monday. A classic track still existed and had been skied in be previous skiers. Slow going still but great to be out. Someone had tried skate skiing but that looked like tough going due to snow cover.

This morning, skiing was beautiful at Chomonix ski trails. The classic trails had some icy patches but were great for practicing your double poling and overall were pretty good at 10 am. The skate skiing paths were still skiable but had deer trails on a few spots. I'm afraid this could be my last of the ski season!

Thank you groomers for keeping this dream season going. Skate deck was great and classic tracks looked good, save for some deer damage on south loop north of the big hill. Much appreciated! Keeping my fingers crossed for a couple more weeks ?! Thanks again!

About 4K of trail is groomed with skate lane and classic tracks. The tracks were very good for March. The skate deck was broken up in places due to deer trails. There are some thin/dirty spots north of the clubhouse.

Started at about 10 am and they were grooming and continued to groom until I left at about 11. They were only grooming for skating at that time, unfortunately.

The north loop was poor/fair. Very icy on parts but doable. South loop was good. Don't think grooming has been done for awhile. They are still cutting trees. Area at end of bridge going north was bad with wood chips and dirt but it does get a little better. Classical tracks poor north, good south loop.

At 8am, 23 degrees, surface was crunchy, icy, but recently tended, quite skiable. Classic tracks looked dope. However, skate deck had pretty deep ruts from maybe yesterday when the surface was slushy, which had now frozen in, and I got stuck in a couple times and went down once. As the surface warms, might be easier to cut through the ruts. Tree trimming had signs up closing some of the trails, in effect closing the northern part of the green loop (north of the clubhouse).

Partially groomed. The trails had been rolled/packed, but no tracks set. As is, there were many narrow track-like grooves to follow. The base was firm, and it was easy to follow tracks made by previous skiers. I did not see any skate-tracks.

Not groomed yet. One fellow was finishing classic as I arrived and said he was the first track.

Good conditions this morning on most of the trail. A little thin in a couple spots, especially right after the first bridge. B skis most likely. Tracks are a little washed out but still very nice easy ski conditions. Skate trail looked pretty good but perhaps a little firm or icy after yesterdays little sleet spell. Definitely enjoyable.
