Trail Reports

2022-2023 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 31    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Thursday, April 6, 2023
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Despite the rain, wind and warm weather the trail is in good to very good condition. The base is firm and the top inch is crusty. The trail is not tracked, but from when it was packed and rolled there are depressions from the roller which made classical skiing very good. Most of the limbs and branches from the high winds have been removed from the trail. Spring type skiing conditions continue.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After receiving a foot of snow on Saturday, Bear Lane and the parking lot were plowed by the Town of Elcho on Monday. Today the trail was packed and rolled but not dragged or tracked. Grooming plans: If conditions permit at the end of the week the trail will at least be tracked. Spring type skiing conditions will continue - snow will be more firm and fast in the morning and slow and soft in the afternoon.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Our new groomer is still in for repairs. It was too warm to drag the skate deck with the old equipment and where I started there are snowballs on the skate deck. Other than where I dragged, the rest of the trail will be good for skate skiing. Track was set on the whole trail and is very good for classical skiing. With the old track setter, it cannot be raised so when going down hills with a turn on the bottom I suggest using the skate area. Spring time skiing conditions continue - the trail will be firm and fast in the mornings when it freezes at night and soft and slow when temperatures get above freezing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With cold weather arriving last night and about 1 to 2 inches of snow, the trail was in good to very good condition for classical skiing. With the warm weather the trail settled and the tracks were shallow but still good. It looked like the skate deck was also good.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trail was rolled on Sunday and today it was rolled, dragged and tracked. Due to the 12 inches of snow we received, it may be soft and will hopefully firm up more tonight. Otherwise the trail is in excellent condition.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trail was dragged and tracked and is in very good condition. Due to the amount of snow the skate deck is soft as well as the tracks. Plan on grooming again tomorrow to further firm up the trail.
