We still have snow on the Upper Gunflint Trail, and our ski trails are in good condition for this time of year. I skied on the Little Pine Trail today and found the trail base snow depths to be 7 - 13 inches. Off the trails, I observed everything from bare ground to 23 inches of snow. Overall, we have had 88 1/2 inches of snow this season. Due to the spring conditions, we are often seeing soft snow or ice on the trails (depending on the air temperature). I did not see any bare spots on the actual trails, but it would probably be best to come up to ski relatively quickly as we are seeing a fair amount of melting. Unless we get another big snowfall, grooming is done for the season.

The skiing conditions are still great on the Upper Gunflint Trail. Even after the warm spell and rain, we still have a 12 - 17 inch trail base, and snow depths off trail going up to 24 inches. Yesterday, we got an additional inch of snow, making our seasonal total 87 1/2 inches. When I skied around the Little Pine Trail today, I did not see any bare spots.

Our total snowfall for the season is at 83 inches. One more inch to 7 feet! The ski trail base depth is at 12 - 15 inches, and I found the snow levels beside the trails to be around 27 inches. We never got a mid-winter thaw, so the trails were not at all icy today. It is absolutely spectacular snow conditions for this time of year!

Skied Rabbit Run and Aspen Alley on Thursday before the trails were groomed but the skiing was beautiful! The trails offered such a quiet wilderness experience and there was fresh snow so no hill was too fast for even people like me who are a little bit cautious! On Friday we skied the Lonely Lake trail after it was groomed. The cold conditions made us have a shorter day but it was perfectly set track! Love the Upper Gunflint trail system! Thanks!
