All trails need to be groomed. Blown snow, kick outs, soft shoulders. Great snow, needs work to make it an enjoyable ski.

Tracks are good in most locations. Skate ski areas lack any corduroy. Fast skiing. Needs retracking in some areas and looks like skate ski areas need regrooming. Climbs (waxless skis) are tough-no grip.

Skied all the trails at Lake Kegonsa. The parking lot was full when I got there at 1 pm with just enough room for me and my friends. The trails were groomed and in decent condition though there were some oak leaves on the trails. The yellow trail had a little debris under the bridge by the road but nothing too terrible. Overall, a very nice ski and the temps were perfect.

Excellent conditions this afternoon after the groomer had been out. Skate lanes were still fresh corduroy and a tad soft. Classic tracks were well set throughout.

All trails are groomed! Good, thick layer of snow out there. I was happy to notice wider grooming on the green and yellow trails which gave room to get bigger skating strides in. The snow is pretty light and fluffy and I was sinking down in some parts, but that's because not many people have been skating yet to pack it down. The classic tracks looked well set. Beautiful day!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied all of the trails a couple of times this morning, and then Joanie and I finished up with some skate skiing in the campground loops. Trails had been groomed early this morning (thanks to the staff for this!). The track was in good condition with the new snow, but there were places where the ice from below was still showing. The skate lanes were soft, but had good coverage.

Joanie and I skated the prairie, and skated and strided the campground loops early this morning. Prairie loops I would rate in fair to good condition because of some uneveness due to the recent freezing and thawing. Campground loops I would rate in good condition for skating and striding, but the tracks are thin, so they may not last long. Trails had been groomed Sunday evening and reported on the WI DNR ski trail conditions website. Thanks for the timely grooming and reporting-it made for a fun ski this morning!

Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails have been groomed! Skated the Blue loop and White Oak trail Monday morning. The skate deck was a bit uneven and icy in spots. The tracks were moved over to the right of the trail, making White Oak more comfortable for skating. Some of the track looked thin and icy on the Blue but set really nicely in the White Oak. White Oak did have more debris than the Blue.
Per the DNR Trail Conditions website stated trails are "Fair" and "All ski trails were groomed and tracked on Sunday, January 17th. The base is thin in some areas and the tracks are shallow. Please use caution near the beach parking area as a car drove through the ski trail."

Surprisingly good skiing here today, in the mid-afternoon. With the warm weather and very wet snowfall two days ago I expected the trails to be mushy and/or carved up but it was a pleasant ski today. We skated and the skate deck looks not to have been groomed in the past couple days but that was probably wise and I imagine they are waiting for colder temps. Currently the skate deck is variable ... a bit choppy and uneven in some sections, but acceptable in other where there has been more traffic to ski it in. Classic skiers will see some sections with great tracks and others that have melted down to the pavement/ground. Not much can be done for classic tracks until we get more snowfall. Really the only spot your ski bases will be at risk if you are skating is the section traveling under the overpass as you head to the easternmost section (toward the sledding hill) of the trails. More and more stones and road gravel are waiting for you at that point so be very careful. C'mon snow!
