Notes

Mcnaughton Lake Trail follows old logging roads around three lakes and has very few steep hills. It is very scenic and an excellent trail for a beginner. A five and a half mile loop is groomed for skating. There is a shelter with a fire ring on the trail.

Excellent conditions! Nice hard tracks that were a little crusty, but not at all icy. There was some forest debris including the usual sticks, oak leaves and pine needles but these were mostly easy to avoid.

The trail received 1-2" of fresh snow. All loops were cut, groomed, and tracked and the skater's loop was cut and groomed. Expect shallow track in areas throughout the trail system. Good conditions overall.

Beautiful out there. When I got there, I found old but skied in tracks, then the groomer was out resurfacing everything starting with the skating trail. My pictures are outdated as new tracks are being set at this time. Possibly my coldest ski day this year, green kick wax sure was moving! I'm officially ready for spring (skiing).

Skied classic from 10-11am. Temp range 32-37. Quite icy at the beginning, but improved by the end. Trails were groomed yesterday and still very nice. Enjoyed the wonderful spring skiing.

Trails were groomed before we arrived at 11:00 this morning. It was about 33 at that point. Some soft spots in the sun, but overall conditions were great. Would go a little earlier in the day in the future.

Grooming operations were underway on the skaters loop when I arrived at noon. Therefore, I classic skied the Blue and Green loops first. They had not been groomed yet but the tracks had already been skied in by the time I arrived. Classic conditions were good even without having been groomed after several inches of new snow. By the time I finished skiing the two classic loops, the groomer had finished the Red skaters loop. The skate deck was a bit soft and a little uneven but my Fischer soft trac skate skis performed extremely well. The Red skaters loop is an awesome trail. Skate conditions overall I would rate as very good.
