The Gateway Trail is straight and flat. It is not groomed, but in general there is a decent classic track set by previous skiers as well as a separate track for walking or snowshoeing. There is parking for three vehicles with a warning sign about frequent break-ins. There was a little bit of debris but it is a nice easy ski to the Duluth Junction which goes on east to the Browns Creek Trail to Stillwater or north to Pine Point. I skied up to 96. It is another 4 miles from there to Pine point.
