Trail Detail
Notes
In Partnership with the Thunder Bay Nordic Trails Association, Sleeping Giant grooms 50 km of cross-country ski trails for both classic and skate skiing. There is a trail for novice skiers and more challenging trails for advanced skiers. Each winter the park hosts the Sleeping Giant Loppet (formerly Sibley Ski Tour), northwestern Ontario's premier cross-country ski event.Trail Reports

Challenging conditions at the Sleeping Giant Loppet, with snow and wintry mix across the 24 hours leading up to the race start. So the huge course had mixed conditions, including some fresh snow in the classic tracks. But overall they did a great job across 50k. They have easily two feet of natural snow on trail in March, in a gorgeous setting.

Great skiing at Sleeping Giant! Some trails weren't groomed but the main trail around the lake was open. Part of it wasn't tracked but had good coverage. I'd say fine to use good skis. Minimal debris on trails, fairly easy to avoid. Near the lake gets windy so bring a buff or face tape and be prepared for lake winds. Keep an eye out for the friendly fox who lives in the park.
