Great conditions today at university ridge with the new snow last night. You just need a little blue kickwax and you're good to go!

U-Ridge has a sweet course layout and the best grooming in Madison from my perspective. Another great day with deep classic tracks and excellent skate deck.

Groomed this morning. A couple minor thin spots but overall very good. Zimmer loop is firm. Other side softer but will probably set up.

Trails had been freshly groomed upon arrival this morning. Joanie and I skated the Zimmer loops several times and then strided all the classic-only trails. Zimmer loops were excellent for skating and the tracks looked very good too. The classic-only trails had good fresh tracks, but there were periodic thin spots to work around. Overall a great morning and early afternoon of skiing. Thanks to the groomers for keeping these trails in the best shape possible with our recent lack of snowfall.

Icy conditions on the trails today, but only a few patches where grass or sticks were poking through the groomed classic tracks on the Zimmer loop. Icy conditions on the upper red loop are less ideal, but still ski-able.

Joanie and I skated the Zimmer loops several times this morning and then added some traditional skiing on a couple of the classic-only loops. Skate lanes (which had all been regroomed this morning) on the Zimmer Loops were in excellent condition and were also very good on the other trails we observed. The tracks were mostly good on the trails we skied with a few thin areas to work around. Another morning of beautiful skiing and scenery with the fog and hoar frost on the trees.

The trail system at University Ridge was rolled, but not groomed as of 1 PM today. The deck on the Zimmer Loop was very soft and will need to be compacted more to get a great glide. Overall, there is plenty of snow, and if you don’t mind a slower, softer track, then U-Ridge is a solid choice!

The Zimmer loop is in good condition with the classic track having only a few spots where grass is poking through. Great for an early season work out. Full marks to the groomers! The other trails are bit more sketchy and the skate trail better than the classic trail where you have to be careful for grass/cart path becoming an intermittent problem.
